Newcastle United Captain Cheik Tiote was replaced by Vurnon Anita in today's game against Chelsea after picking up a strain which prevented him from playing the 2nd half. Tiote sustained the injury in the first half but managed to get to half time and then play the first 7 minutes of the 2nd half before limping off.
Pardew joked after the 2-0 win;
"It was a tactical decision (to come off) by Cheick, he said ’bring Vurnon on, he’ll change the game and make the second goal with a great bit of skill’ and he was right…he didn’t really say that though.
“He had a little strain but he is fine. He will train Thursday. In Vurnon Anita though it was difficult to leave him out. As a manager there are some people who you can’t even look in the eye because they have played so well for you and he is one of them at the minute.”
