Newcastle United host Fulham tomorrow on the back of one draw and one defeat in their first two Premier League games of the season. Fulham travel to St James’ Park with one win and one defeat from their opening games. Both sides will however be boosted by wins in midweek in the League Cup – with Fulham taking their game to extra time and penalties against Burton Albion, whilst Newcastle achieved a 2-0 victory in 90 minutes over Morecambe. 

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew could reintroduce midfielder Yohan Cabaye to the team for the first time this season, as so far no other bids have been received for him. Striker Loic Remy (calf) could be available having also missed the start of the season whilst Cheik Tiote (groin) and Jonas Gutierrez (hamstring) are both doubts.

Massadio Haidara (knee) and Mike Williamson (knock) are both unavailable, as is Steven Taylor who serves the final game of a three match suspension.

Martin Jol is without goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg (shoulder), Kieran Richardson (hamstring) and Fernando Gabriel Amorebieta (knock) but Kacaniklic who returned in midweek is available.

Fact: The previous three meetings against the two sides in the League played in August have seen 19 goals.

Fact: Newcastle haven’t scored in 3 successive Premier League games – the last time they failed to score in four was in 2008.

Fact: 7 of Fulham’s last 9 League goals have been in the 2^nd half.

I don't rate Cabaye that highly.
He can't cross he can't take corners and he can be woeful at passing on occasion.

I think we might win this. C'mon lads make us proud

He's constantly giving away silly free kicks also, best thing about him is about 1 in 50 free kicks is amazing and unsaveable

an alright first half, sissoko, anita, mbiwa and marveaux all seem to be playing better and settling into the first team although i wish sissoko would stay in the middle making his runs into the box rather than up the wing

yet again the build up play is good but once we are in the final 3rd it goes wrong, is it the midfield dont have any confidence in the strikers, a lack of ability of the midfielders to play the ball to the strikers, we have a team of individuals who want the personal glory so go for long shots or a combination of all of these

Think it was a good performance as well..

Nice to see that we are actually trying to shoot from the distance, which gave our goal, and a nice one..

AND we did have a couple of very good chances.
Could Remy really make a difference? Think the team looked more comfortable with him up front., or maybe it was just my imagination..

Gouf played very well and was a pain for Fulham to contain the whole time he was on the pitch just a shame he has got no end product
But that's besides the point I'm happy as we finally scored ! And 3pts is a big bonus too , its a long drive home for me when you haven't even seen a sniff at goal
