Pardew Admits Enrique Problem

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has admitted that the club are finding it increasingly difficult to get Jose Enrique around the table to discuss a new contract at the club. Speculation has been rife since Christmas that Enrique is ready to move, with Liverpool top contenders for his signature, however, Manchester United are also in the running and have shown an interest in the Spaniard.
Pardew said;
"The Enrique situation is something we talked about. How possible is it going to be to get him over the line?.
It's difficult because we're finding it difficult to get him to come to the table. We're safe, which was what his people said that they would wait for.
It's now the last game, and once we get the last game out of the way we'll sit down and see where we are with it.
We're very hopeful he stays but there's no point keeping a player who has set his sights on a club he has perceived is bigger. You can't keep a player that's unmotivated."
Enrique would be a free agent come the end of next summer and if he isn't prepared to sign a new deal it would be seen to be in the clubs best interest to take the highest possible bid.

Reckon it will happen, said on sky sports news yesterday that getting linked to Liverpool, Man U and AC Milan for 15 million.
Can't see Man U going for him, with them having Evra, but defo the other two, not to sure that Milan would pay the 15 million if true, but reckon Liverpool could

My first thought was that perhaps Pardew is playing the media game here. Trying to make Enrique look greedy and money hungry a little. Bit like Sir Alex did with Rooney.
Fact is that no one will pay Jose the 45k-50k that he gets from NUFC.
I assume that all the recent transfer talk surrounding players coming in is to help the Barton/Nolan/Jose contract talks. There will be more twists to this over the next few weeks.

The propaganda push has well and truly started, and Enrique will not be back. Is anyone surprised? His body language has said "I don't give a s.hit" for games.
We damn well better have a replacement lined up.
BTW-Milan signed Taye Taiwo on Friday so they're out. As for Man U-I think Evra's out of contract after next season and they may be having similar problems. Maybe they're putting it about that they're interested to put Evra's camp on notice.

LFC will pay that sort of money, they are rebuilding and to me that is going to be where Enrique will end up. If the guy wants to go and with the length of his contract then get rid, but only if we are going to have the cash.

That's the rub, TTID. Again, don't forget to consider the wages we've shed. Net cash flow improved by something like 100M since Ashley took over.
It was needed, and financially I think we are in a good position even with the debt, as you would imagine if we continue to stay in the premiership then some of the TV money will go each season towards debt.
I would be more than happy to sell to invest, as if Enrique goes we will have 45-50 million towards players which is a massive amount. However reckon we will be lucky to see half of that

So not only are we planning on playing a bag of cash up front, we're going to play a bag of cash at left back too. At least he won't need cover.

I think he is gone and either way I dont want players who's heart are not in it. Im not having this sh17 about him going because of us selling AC. He was loving the town at the end of last season and that start of this one. Now after a good season he is too good for us. Above all else he should come out and tell the truth.

If he wants to go then we need to sell him quick so we have time to bring in somebody and give them a good pre season, as if not he goes during the season after a few games and we are then stuck getting somebody fit if we bring in anybody, getting them used to everything and possibly the premiership if foreign
My guess is if he's going to go it will be in the next couple of weeks. Apparently, LFC have opened the bidding with a laughably low bid.

There was lots of talk that Nolan was going to be offered one but not even sure that has started. To be honest he has two years left and just cant see him playing for us in 3 years time never mind 4.
Like Barton we cant lose our big players in one summer but on the other hand we cant be dishing out big long contracts on older players.

Ashley is showing where the club is going, no big money contracts anymore to anybody, which in a a way is not a bad thing. Not to sure when Colo is up but when it is then he needs to be sold as there is no way he is going to accept 35k when he is on 80k.

Didn't know Nolan had 2 seasons left. So that's really not a priority though I would like him to be happy here.

If we're going to ship out big contracts from the first team, we need to do that quickly and get replacements. I don't want to think of our prospects should we sell Barton, Enrique and Nolan on August 31 and then have the board tell us there was no time to find replacements...

Your right Tunyc and for all we dont hear much other than paper talk it would seem we have really kicked in early. There is the oung lad from Lens even though I see him as more for the future. Bidding for the Toulouse left back before that season had finished. Says in paper that we have a bid in for a player and have given a deadline or we will move on. Strong stance to take and it might not always pay off but at least you know where you stand and hopefully wont get another Luque.

If he is sold this summer then I would expect 5-8 mill from the season he has had playing on the right wing. Replace him with Seb larsson for free, four years younger and on nearer a third of Barton's wage and you can see why the board would do it. Im not even suggesting I would want him to replace Barton as on their day Barton wins hands down but you know where Im coming from.

I would be happy with Larson, always liked the lad and think it makes us play in the same way if he plays out on the right, and on a business sense getting rid of Barton and bring the lad in is a good bit. I think if Barton was to be sold I can see us only getting the 5 million, not because he shouldn't go for more which I think he does, but the lads reputation and how many clubs are going to be after him, all depends if their is two or three fighting for his signature then it could turn into a bidding way.
If we are wanting to keep Nolan then we need to being doing this sort of deals now or by Jan at the latest, we can't go in every summer where each lad has one year on his contract like the Barton deal. Sometimes you get away with it, but if that was a good young prospect then they will walk away for nothing as top clubs will offer them the world

Larsson doesn't seem realistic. We wouldn't meet his wage demands in January and now that B'ham are relegated there will be more suitors, likely pushing those demands upward. If we don't sign Barton for holding firm over one year of the deal, I'd call that counter-productive rigidity.
I am not sure that Larson is unrealistic, I can't see him being on loads of money, and all he hasn't been linked a lot to other clubs. Playing for us on a decent amount of 35k then I think he would take it
Why would we pay now what we wouldn't pay in January? That's the basic logic issue I have with any purported interest in him.
