Calderwood Named As Hibernian Manager

Colin Calderwood has been announced as the new manager of Hibernian. The former defender has previous managerial experience, having managed both Northampton and Nottingham Forest prior to joining Newcastle United in January 2009, where he served as Assistant Manager alongside current manager Chris Hughton.

 

Calderwood, who has joined Hibs on a 3 year deal, told the Official Newcastle United website of his time at the club;

"I have enjoyed my time at Newcastle United immensely; it is a great club with a great support. However, I have always wanted to be a Manager again in my own right and I am therefore delighted to be given this opportunity at another huge club, Hibernian.

This is a well run, stable club with a wonderful tradition and terrific facilities. I'm looking forward to working with the squad and can't wait to get started as we prepare for Saturday's game at Aberdeen."

He did a fine job for us, and he deserves a post of his own. That said, he and Hughton are too similar. Time to bring in a first team coach with some new ideas. Perhaps even push Beardsley into that role. If anyone can give Guthrie and Vuckic the tutelage they need it's Pedro.
