Newcastle United travel to Ashton Gate tomorrow evening for the day's late kick off on the back of a 3-0 win in midweek. With five wins and one draw in their last six games, Chris Hughton's side will be looking to take advantage of their 4 point lead at the top of the table. Managerless Bristol City host having been defeated in their last two games, both away from home and have just two wins from their last six games.
Newcastle will be without long serving absentee Steven Taylor (knee), Mike Williamson (hand), Shola Ameobi (hamstring) who despite having returned to full training is not fully fit, Alan Smith (ankle) and possibly Peter Lovenkrands who picked up and ankle injury in midweek and is a doubt.
Joey Barton played 75minutes for the reserves this week but isn't expected to feature.
Chris Hughton will be relying on in-form Andy Carroll to provide the goals as they push for 3 points.
Bristol City will be managed by assistant manager Keith Millen as they look to leapfrog Reading in the table. He will be without Evander Sno, Jamie McCombe and Marvin Elliot, all of which are struggling with long term injuries. Jamal Campbell-Ryce will serve his 1 match ban after being sent off in midweek, but Stefan Maierhofer could make him home debut after signing on loan from Wolves.

It may be a tough game, with them losing there manager recently, there team can fall apart or as so many teams do come out fighting

big andy is flying. hope loven makes it, but we have a squad now, and real confidence. if loven is rested, hope ranger gets at least half an hour, cos this new formation (routledge wide and guthrie mid) may suit him.

Ive done something i dont normally do and put us on my weekend coupon, "im confident"
clocks havent gone forward in Europe yet. They go next weekend, so one hour less difference now.
Forgot about the time change...picked up an hour and am now -6 rather than -7. Whew.

guess nobody on our defense figured he could score from there...so, leave them alone and look what happens.
We lack composure on the ball, we are just whacking it forward. More often than not straight at a Bristol City player.

They have a new Manager, and playing the team top of the league so they have stepped it up. We need to get one back quickly and then game on... they can't keep this pace up, some of them looked pretty tired at half time.

hughton clearly needs best to show why he was good enough to spend the clubs cash on. its desperate watching this guy fail so badly, knowing hughton has this motive, ie, proving he didnt spend the money badly. should have taken him off ages ago

Torn. Bad start. Great heart to fight back. Seemed like they were on the ropes and we didn't get the kill. All in all can be too upset with the away point. But...
Ten points clear of Forest with a game in hand. Can't be too disappointed with that as they only have eight games left and we showed great heart to come back. Jonas now adding goals to his game is another reason to be happy.

LMK, 100% right about Best. Thought Loven wouldnt make it but disappointed that Ranger didnt get a start. Best has been very poor since joining us and people cant say he hasnt had a chance. He has stayed in the champioinship so hasnt had to step up but has done nowt. Even if he was running his socks off that would be something but he looks like one o'clock half struck.
Im not sure if its because Carroll is the target man, which Best might have been at Coventry. The best that Best did today was his heading ability but Ranger has something different than Best.

is that one win in ten on the road now? why do we struggle like this, especially when we look like getting 5 or 6 every home game at the minute?
We have struggled away but it is another point closer to the premiership, the worrying thing would be next season if we take this form in, as we are playing much better teams
