Nicky Butt To Have Hand Op

Nicky Butt is to undergo an operation on his hand after sustaining an injury during Newcastle's friendly against Darlington on Saturday. The official website nufc.co.uk have confirmed that the 34 year old midfielder will be out for approximately 4 weeks meaning he will miss the opening games of the season.

Butt, who joined Newcastle United in 2004, spoke out last week regarding the situation the club find themself in.

He was quoted in The Guardian;

"I don't know what to say about the managerial situation. The sooner it is resolved, the better - but we have been saying that since mid-January and we are still here, so we will see. It's difficult for some players because they don't know where their future lies. I think that's a difficult one.

The season is going to be a tough one. It's a very difficult league we are in now. Things won't be as easy as maybe some people think they will be in the Championship. It's going to be a massive challenge for us, but hopefully it's one that we are going to be able to match."

It always happens in pre season and atleast it is not a massive layoff. It is just amazing though when you look and how many players we get injured over the years for the smallest things
