Lovenkrands & Viduka Hint At Staying At NUFC

Danish striker Peter Lovenkrands has expressed his interest in staying on at Newcastle United when his loan deal expires. The 29 year old who joined the club in January from Schalke in a deal which ends in the summer is the second player today to suggest they would like to stay on Tyneside.

He told TV2:

"It is a great club to be in, and I hope that we stay up and that I can be a part of that. But you never know what will happen in the world of football - if they wish to keep me, or whatever will happen."

Looking at the game ahead against Fulham he said;

"We will have to forget the game against Middlesbrough and focus on Saturday's game against Fulham. It will be a fantastic and important game for us.

I of course hope that we can take with us the self confidence from the last game and use it to win against Fulham."

Aussie striker Mark Viduka has also said he would like to stay at the club, despite his current contract ending at the end of the season. The 33 year old who has been plagued by injury in the two seasons since his arrival said;

"I would love to spend some more time at this club. That's my personal thing. I would love to have good times here and with Alan Shearer as a boss, this club has a lot of potential.

I have been here for two years and we've had five managers. I would say to whoever is in charge, keep Alan for as long as he needs.

The fans love him, he is Newcastle through and through, he is a big personality, people respect him and the players respect him."

Lovenkrands is a must have for me next year. He's a fast, left-footed winger with a willingness to attack the goal.

Viduka can stay as long as its pay as you play. He needs 30 league matches next year for him to be worthwhile.

Duke is done folks, i know that he was great the other night but lets not forget that he has only played a handful of games in the two years he has been here and won't get any fitter the longer he stays. Its time to send him back to the Oz.

As for Lovehandles, yeah sign him up, nice cheap option on the left wing or upfront!

dukes was never fit, not since his first year at leeds, ffs. as long as the deal doesnt stop us rebuilding i'd like him to stay, if its another big fat contract for big fat mark i think we should try someone else.
a year ago i would have liked us to sign dave kitson, inexpensive, great attitude, decent TEAM player, think what he could do for us now, with shearer to learn from

Definately keep Lovenkrands. If Viduka's willing to take a big pay cut he can stay on, preferably pay as you play. I really hope we go for someone like Doyle from Reading, excellent player, and Reading are in the Championship next season too.

Give Lovenkrands a two year deal and Viduka a reduced one year deal.

I would defo keep Lovenkrands, got pace which we lack and is versitile can play up front or on the wing. Even though Viduka adds a different option up front he lacks the fitness and regular games that we need to compete. On sh*t loads of money and they ae better options out thier who are cheaper and better James Beatie (Stoke) or kevin Davies (Bolton) would do me

Personally (being Australian) I have never forgotten Viduka's class.. Although he's slow and has an average scoring record at best at club and international level, he is that rare type of player who is physically dominant and skillful on the ball.. Sign him up. However, he should take a massive pay-cut because we can't continue to pay massive wages for players that can't start 20 games in a season..

Speaking of which are we all in agreement that Owen can safely @#$%& off? I think it's great that that little gimp who thought he had Newcastle over a barrell will now have to beg for a new contract come the 1st of July..

he won't beg, he doesn't want to stay, and doesn't need the money so he will leave on good terms - we don't want him and he doesn't want us. I expect he ends up at Everton.

Lovenkrands - new deal.

Viduka - pay as you play deal.

Owen - if he's willing to take a massive pay cut then keep, that's unlikely, so bye.

Lovenkrands - Yes Yes YEs - He can play winger or striker
Viduka - stay fit and pay as you play
Owen - too many injuries - need someone younger, with pace and less money.

I personally don't think Viduka would accept a "pay as you play contract". He's still premier league class and someone will offer him the contract he deserves. Whether he can stay fit long enough to honour that contract is another matter mind you.

make it a big'un. he couldnt expect much elsewhere, given his record over the last few years
if he wants to cruise, let him go. if he is motivated, grab him

Lovenkrands I'd give a two year deal - well deserved in my opinion.

Viduka should be offered a one year deal, provided he takes a pay cut. He has great ability as we know, but more importantly he can teach our young strikers a thing or two I believe.

Owen well if he stays I will be okay with that as his got a great record and if he goes I'd be happy too.
