Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor has been ruled out for two weeks after a reoccurring ankle injury, originally picked up in March meant he couldn't play the second half against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. The original injury kept him out for up to a month.
Taylor is now looking at a come-back for the Tyne-Tees derby in a fortnight's time when Newcastle play Middlesbrough, meaning he will miss games against Portsmouth and Liverpool.
The 23 year old has been told he will have to rest his ankle and that he will not be able to run on it until the bruising and swelling has gone down.
Another injury will be a huge concern for manager Alan Shearer who has already admitted he will need his strongest team available in the coming weeks.
