Newcastle travel to the KC Stadium tomorrow in what Michael Owen has called their "cup final," with the intention of moving away from a relegation battle. Just 4 points separate the two sides with both teams having lost 12 games a-piece this season.

Hull City have won 2 of their last 6 games in all competitions,
whilst Newcastle have taken just 1 win from their last 6 leaving
just their goal difference keeping them in 17th.

Andy Dawson is available for Hull City having served a 1 match ban, but Dean Marney continues to see his suspension through and will miss the game. Record signing Jimmy Bullard is out for the season as is George Boateng.

Michael Owen, who has played just 44.9% of Newcastle's game since he joined in 2005, returns hoping to lift team spirits. Nicky Butt (knee) is also set for a return to the starting eleven having recovered from injury whilst Damien Duff (calf) could make the bench despite not being fully fit.

Despite scheduled returns for Ignacio Gonzalez, Danny Guthrie and Xisco, none look to be included in this weekend's squad.

Caretaker manager Chris Hughton is also without Mark Viduka who is unlikely to be fit for another 2 weeks (Achilles) and Habib Beye (ankle) who could play next week against Arsenal after resuming full training this week.  Meanwhile Kevin Nolan will serve the final game of his 3 match suspension.

What The Managers Have To Say

Hull City manager Phil Brown said ahead of the game;

"There is a lot of fighting talk coming out of Newcastle and it is interesting to hear that.

If they had that fighting talk all season they wouldn't be in the position they are in.

As far as I am concerned, bring your fighting talk to the table at three o'clock and we'll get it on."

Whilst Chris Hughton focused on Michael Owen's return;

"It's a massive lift. He is our club captain; he is a player with a wonderful goal-scoring record and ability.

One thing we have continually said is what we wanted to do is have a stronger bench. A stronger bench means a stronger team and also competition for places.

That being the case, to have someone like Michael back involved
in the squad is a lift for everybody."

Fact: - Hull have the weakest home record in the Premier League.

Nice fact. Maybe if PB had talked s.hit all year Hull wouldn't have the worst home record in the league.
