Newcastle face West Ham today at St James' Park with West Ham travelling in high spirits after winning their last 3 games and being unbeaten in their last 5. Newcastle however have lost their last 2 premier league games, against Wigan and then Liverpool. Newcastle will be without several key players including Nicky Butt and Obafemi Martins, whilst West Ham will welcome back 3 players to the side.
In total Joe Kinnear is without eight players, Nicky Butt (suspended), Joey Barton (knee), Alan Smith (foot), Obafemi Martins (groin), Habib Beye (ankle), Claudio Cacapa (knee) and Gonzalez (Achilles), however N'Zogbia should be available after recovering from a dead leg, Ameobi could also feature after struggling with a hamstring injury and Danny Guthrie has recovered from flu.
Former Newcastle United player's Scott Parker and Kieron Dyer, both now at West Ham today could feature against their old team-mates. Parker has completed a suspension and Kieron Dyer looks to be fit again after returning from a lengthy absence and should make the bench. Lee Bowyer however is no longer available for West Ham after being signed out to Birmingham on loan until the end of the season.
Mathew Upson, Lucus Neill and Valon Behrami all return from injury for West Ham but Dean Ashton and Danny Gabbidon remain unavailable.

I can just see that little w****r, Bellamy coming here with a point to prove and going all out to make us suffer.

OK, I'll admit that I haven't been able to watch a game for a while...

Worst f00king non-call of the season there...Noble was three yards off! What game is the assistant watching?!

Jonas has been great, looking his old self with aggressive runs and tremendous strength on the ball.
Geremi holding has worked out pretty well. He's not bossing the midfield but he's effective enough and looks to have more in the tank than Butt at this point.
Set pieces-Geremi's free kicks (slow and looping, straight to Green) and Guthrie's corners (very deep and ten yards past the back post)-have been awful.
Our center halves are finding Bellamy difficult to mark. They have trapped him a couple of times, but he continues to be a problem-obviously.
Anyway, I'm just talking to myself here, so I'll shut up now. But we really should be pushing for all three points in the second half. Young Carroll needs to do more with all the aerial balls he wins and more support as well. Our wingers need to get to the back post (especially Jonas, who more and more seems to have no appetite for physical play). Geremi needs to track back more to help with Bellamy. This is a very winnable game.

Duff is very quiet, hardly touched the ball. Agree that the wingers got to get in the box when ball is on the otherside of the pitch.
Bellamy is always a threat with his pace and especially when the transfer window is open!

Steven Cockhead Taylor just caused our goal to be disallowed for a needless push on a West Ham player.
When refs start to get calls like that right-there was nothing like a push-they'll get some respect. How can you push a guy whose body is essentially horizontal as he dives for the ball?!?!

And I reiterate: there's no way Shola should keep Carroll out of the squad. On his day he is very hard for even PL center halves to handle. Give him a run, Joe!

Well, that's a point I'll take. The fact is that WHU are one of the league's form teams right now. The squad put in a spirited performance for the entire, even after going down in the second half. That hasn't been typical of this side lately. And some credit for that definitely has to go to JFK. Then there's the fact that we looked like the side that was going to snatch all three at the end. This with a very depleted squad.
It also seems like other results are breaking our way, too. I'm going to go ahead and be pleased with the club for the rest of the weekend.

in all fairness it was probably the most entertaining game i have seen in quite some time. still think we were screwed just a bit, i think 4 or 5 penalty claims, the own goal disallowed, and perhaps one of west ham's goals looked offsides?
that tackle in the last minute by the west ham defender was insane, we were so close to getting that result at the end - i thought Jonas had won it!
Good result, all considered.

Yet another 2-2. At least we managed to come back from going behind. Up to 11th, extremely close league still, could have even been in the top half with a 2-0 win.
I don't think we can say we were screwed, considering Bassong (who otherwise had another great game) laid out Bellamy with a clothesline and about pulled Cole's shirt off, both in the box.
Only got to see the second half properly.
Jonas looks good on the ball, but so much of it comes to nowt. Same goes for Duff whose crosses nearly always seem to hit the first man.

yeah definatly a penalty against Bassong again, the ref just must have been looking at the ball and not the play, it was a clear penalty. That tackle by upson at the end was the play of the game, although i wouldn't put it past Jonas to miss from there, finishing not his strong point. I was impressed by Zoggers when he came on!
Jonas played at least one sublime ball in-when Owen hit the post in the first half. He's got the killer pass.
Jonas and Duffer just battled out this drew, without them on the field we lose this game no doubt. That doesn't mean that they played great but they showed character which is a good sign. I think that Jonas deserved that late goal.
We could have had 3 points and been up to tenth if that tosspot Taylor hadn't made us lose that goal. He's not half as good as he thinks he is.

To reiterate:
Taylor did have his hand up like an idiot, but there's no way he pushed Collins. Watch the replay. Collins clearly dives for the ball-and misses-of his own volition. There's no way you're convincing me that he went down due to a push. No way.
