Joe Kinnear takes a battered and bruised squad to Hull City's Kingston Communications Stadium tomorrow for the 3rd round of the FA Cup. Newcastle who will be without Habib Beye (ankle), Claudio Cacapa (knee), Joey Barton (knee), Obafemi Martins (groin), Mark Viduka (groin), Shola Ameobi (hamstring), Alan Smith (foot) and Ignacio Gonzalez (Achilles)
go looking for a win taking advantage of a string of poor results for Hull.
Kinnear cancelled training ahead of the match to prevent further injuries and could potentially also be without Nicky Butt (cramp) and Jose Enrique (calf) who are both struggling to be fit in time. Bassong will return after seeing out his 1 match (not 3) suspension.
Newcastle who have lost their last two games against Wigan 2-1 and Liverpool 5-1 host Hull who were humiliated by their manager Phil Brown in their own 5-1 thrashing against Manchester City as he gave his half time talk on the pitch after applauding the fans and then lost to Aston Villa on Tuesday after scoring an own goal.
For Hull, Craig Fagan is set to start after 4 months on the sidelines recovering from a broken leg inflicted by Newcastle's Danny Guthrie at the end of last season. Brown will also welcome back, Nathan Doyle, Stelios Giannakopoulos, Nicky Featherstone, George Boateng, Dean Windass and Dean Marney, but Dawson (Achilles), Anthony Gardner (thigh) and Caleb Folan (knee) all remain out.
we are playing pretty well, but we needed to take one of those early chances. we should have scored at least one so far. MO guilty of missing a real sitter!
