Joe Kinnear could find himself being investigated by the FA after breaching his touchline ban during yesterday's 2-2 draw at Goodison Park. Newcastle United's interim manager was clearly seen standing behind the 4th official at one point during the match and was then accompanied down the tunnel by a police officer after a brief discussion with 4th official Anthony Taylor. The FA are now awaiting a full match report from yesterday's game before reviewing whether to take further action against the former Nottingham Forest manager who was serving his remaining half of a 2 match ban handed to him in 2005 when he was last in management.

Kinnear said of the situation:

"That's when I was running down to the tunnel. I couldn't get the phone to work.

Every time I was getting through to Chris, it was cutting out.

I dumped the phone and ran down. I was just shouting round the corner. I didn't go on the pitch, so I don't know why anyone is making anything of it.

I got the substitution sorted, and went back upstairs. I want to be on the bench. I want to see things and act quickly. Thankfully, it's all over."

He is unlikely to be punished for this breach of a ban but could still be investigated by the FA for his outburst at the press on Thursday; though again charges are unlikely.

I thought you were'nt allowed ANY contact (including the telephone) to the dugout?

u are aloud contact, else the team woudnt hav a manager but going to the tunnel like that was a bit careless
