Reports from the BBC today suggest Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has given all potential buyers of the club a deadline of Tuesday to register a firm interest. Whilst the main focus has been on a Nigerian or South African Consortium buying out Ashley, that rumour was rejected by South African billionaire Johann Rupert who claimed to have "absolutely no interest & no knowledge" of a takeover. It is alleged that there are 7 prospective buyers from America, and the Far and Middle East. Information so far suggests each prospect has received a 4 page document about the club highlighting its potential and selling points....

They have all been required to sign a confidentiality clause with regards to the potential sale.

5Lives's Garry Richardson said:

"It's hoped that Tuesday will be a significant day in the sale of the club.

Interested parties who wish to buy Newcastle have been asked to make their intention clear by Tuesday as to whether they intend to make a serious bid for the club.

If there are serious buyers who emerge by Tuesday, the sale could then be completed by the middle of November."

Ashley is said to be looking for £250m-£300m for the club, but as the main image shows, in the interim he has resorted to selling half price replica shirts in his Sports Direct stores to save the pennies.

If no sale will be finalised till mid November then I forsee many "guy's" dressed as Mike Ashley sitting atop bonfires on November 5th
