Terry Venables has confirmed he is in line to take over from Chris Hughton as Caretaker Manager. Newcastle are yet to secure a win since owner Mike Ashley put the club up for sale after Keegan's exit & Venables is seen as the man to take Newcastle through this period where the club is in limbo, with no concrete evidence of a potential buyer, or full time manager being appointed anytime soon.
The former England manager confirmed he has held talks with the club, he told The Sun:
"I can confirm I met Newcastle representatives. Those talks will continue in the morning [Thursday] when, hopefully, I can give them a final decision."
Indicating an announcement could be made by the end of the day.
yeah i agree dick think el tel is a good manager but if he aint gonna be there long there is not much point but we do need a exerienced head to get they guys playing.
We are sort of caught in limbo at the mo the best outcome would be swift take over (nigerians) and someone full time (kk) ? all in all the next few days could be massive for us!
The ship has pretty much crashed. We need to rebuild the main part which will be getting new owners and a manager and we will be back sailing again. Ashley's little problem has caused chaos and he will be forever hated for it. But the Toon will be back strong and we will be back to winning ways. Unfortunately we didn't grab anything from the Spuds and I doubt we get much from Rovers, but after that I hope to have the new owners and hopefully KK in place to continue where our season started off. I just hope the lads can do what they say and stay united and play like they did under KK.
El Tel would've been perfect. we desperately need someone in the dressing room who can command respect, speak from experience and do it with some charisma.
"I didn't want to move up to Tyneside and find myself surplus to requirements before I'd even had the chance to get my teeth into the challenge.
"The way the job was offered to me meant that I might be working at St James' Park for two months, two years - or two weeks. There was far too much uncertainty involved."
He added: "The Newcastle supporters have suffered more than enough in recent years.
"I didn't want them to think I'd gone up there just to pocket a few quid from Mike Ashley and then wave 'cheerio' a couple of weeks later."
Now its Hoodle or someone else who is well below par, the way Ashsley is taking us we should sign Graeme Rix.
Who with half a brain would take the job at the minute?
