Joey Barton and Danny Guthrie may be suspended for this weekend's trip to West Ham but Damian Duff is raring to go after recovering from injury in time for Newcastle's travel to London. Caretaker manager Chris Hughton has a job on his hands with half his squad suffering from injuries.

Midfielder Alan Smith has just been diagnosed with a stress fracture of the foot and is unlikely to feature for up to 3 months, Habib Beye is not scheduled to return from an Achilles injury until the beginning of October, neither is Jonas Gutierrez who is carrying a shoulder injury or Kazenga LuaLua who has a sprained ankle. Also injured are Jose Enrique who is due back at the end of the month hopefully having recovered from a hamstring problem, Obafemi Martins who is also due back at the end of the month but has already starting training after a groin strain and Andy Carroll who has a foot injury.

Also due to return to action in October is Mark Viduka who is struggling to recover from an Achilles injury, whilst W Ngo Baheng is suffering with a knee injury which is likely to keep him out until the New Year.

Former Newcastle player Craig Bellamy is to return to action this weekend for West Ham manager, former Chelsea player Gianfranco Zola after suffering with groin problems. West Ham will also be without striker Dean Ashton (ankle) and former Toon player Kieron Dyer who has a broken leg.

West Ham sit at the top of the Premier League home table with a 100% record for the 2008/2009 campaign, whilst Newcastle have won just 1 in their last 6 away games. Hughton will go into his second game as caretaker manager on the back of a 2-1 defeat against Hull, whilst West Ham also lost last weekend in a 3-2 defeat against West Brom.

West Ham have secured 10 out of a potential 12 points in the last 4 games against North East teams played at Upton Park. Despite that, Newcastle have not lost to West Ham in 9 Premier League meetings.

Michael Owen will be confident of scoring this weekend with a record of 10 goals in his last 12 matches against West Ham.

We are getting forward more.. Edgar looks pretty weak at right back, and quick to jump in the tackle at the wrong times.

Penalty appeal weak too, it did hit Parker's arm after bouncing up from his leg.

Duff looking better than usual.
