Taylor Injury Sees Him Withdraw From International

Defender Steven Taylor has pulled out of the England Under 21 squad for their friendly against Slovenia tomorrow night. Taylor pulled up with an injury in Newcastle's first game of the season at Old Trafford yesterday after colliding with Manchester United's Darren Fletcher and had to leave the pitch for treatment which saw him watch from the sidelines as Newcastle conceded an equalising goal.
Taylor returned to the pitch and managed to finish the full 90 minutes but has now withdrawn from the squad with an ankle injury.
Keegan said earlier today of Taylor's commitment:
"He got a bad knock when we scored that would have seen a lot of players come off, but not Steven.
If he does what we ask, he will make another step up and go from the Under-21s."
The seriousness of Taylor's injury is yet to be confirmed by the club who are yet to comment on whether he will be fit to face Bolton at the weekend.
England v Slovenia takes place at the KC stadium, home to Hull City. Kick Off 7.45pm.
