First the Turkish news announced Fenerbahce's new signing and now Newcastle United FC have confirmed the departure of Emre Belozoglu who joined the club in July 2005. The 27 year old Turkish international was released by Newcastle United prior to the end of the 2007/2008 Premier League season enabling him to link up early with the Turkish side In preparation for the Euro 2008 campaign.

Since arriving home speculation has increased as to how likely it was Emre would be returning to Tyneside after Euro 2008.

Tonight NUFC.co.uk has released the following:

"Newcastle United can confirm that they have agreed terms with Fenerbahce for the transfer of midfielder Emre.

The Magpies have also given Fenerbahce permission to talk to the player to discuss personal terms."

Emre whose contract with Newcastle was to officially end in 2011 has made 58 appearances, 43 league starts and scored 5 times since he arrived at the club for £3.8million.

The news was initially announced on Fenerbahce's official club website yesterday which read:

"Fenerbahce reached an agreement with Newcastle United in order to sign the Turkish superstar Emre Belozoglu."

Didn't play enough to make me miss him, to be honest. I know he's talented but some of the injuries he had seemed like the bad/no-conditioning type. I don't know that he was very passionate about the Toon.
