Keegan: 1 Signing? Possibly! 2 Signings? Unlikely!

Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan has so far this week said that he will not "rush" into signing anybody, but as the transfer window comes to a close the fans are getting nervous that "King Kev" may not boost the squad. Keegan who seemed close to signing Woodgate over the weekend has only been at he club just over a week, but the initial view was he would use this window to make his mark at the club.

Keegan made the following comments on the lack of signings so far and the possibility of recruiting over the next 2 days.

"There's an evens chance of us getting one player in this week,

To get two in now we'd be swimming the Channel, I think.

But you never know, we might surprise ourselves and the last week of the transfer window invariably sees clubs make decisions which make you think: 'Wow, I never expected that.'

We're only looking at Premier League players. We're not looking to bring anyone in from abroad unless they were really world-class and established, and invariably they don't come around in this transfer window."

The club has been linked with all of the following players since Keegan was appointed, most of which are unconfirmed by the club.

I'm still waiting for Ashley to splash the cash. Not saying that's why nothing has happened this window, but with the money he has any of the players on that list should be a possibility.

And honestly, some of the names on that list are just not good enough to reject the offer of a place at the Toon:

Hyypia
Defoe
Brown
Riise
Downing...and more!

Bear in mind - the names above are those LINKED thats media gossip - the majority are unconfirmed many denied.

Have a look on www.nufc.com for a full list of details with regards to transfer rumours their list include dates and who the rumour came from as well as a response from the club if one is given

I'm not getting nervous, if we don't get any one we don't get anyone and it just means more money to spend in the summer.

The best we can hope for is a uefa cup spot and that will take a small miracle. The rest of this season is about getting the structure in place and assessing the current squad and the up and coming youth players.

I really hope Nigeria, Senegal and Cameroon fail to advance.
