Nigerian Striker Obafemi Martins has given his blessing to the appointment of Kevin Keegan as Newcastle manager and is looking forward to a many more minutes on the pitch. Under Sam Allardyce Martins was frequently on the bench, only appearing if a fellow team-mate was injured and even then he wasnt always 1st choice.
It appeared to many that Michael Owen was given a starting place regardless of performance and as a result Martins often went off dejected.
On many occasions Obafemi played a good game but was benched the next, the lack of minutes on the pitch led to increased speculation that he would activated a release clause in his contract enabling him to move to one of the Premiership's highflyers.
Speaking to The News Of The World from the African Cup of Nations where he is representing Nigeria, Martins said:
"I cannot say I have good memories of Allardyce's time, I definitely think he should have played me more".

"Will it be good to have a fresh start? If something is not right you must change it.
I don't know why he never picked me but he never said anything to me.
I believe Kevin Keegan can help my game."
Martins has made 16 appearances this season in all competitions and is Newcastle United's leading goalscorer with 7 goals in all competitions, he is well on his way to reaching last years total of 17 goals.
It has been a busy week for the 23 year old who joined Newcastle in 2006, as reports suggest that he has been offered a new contract by the club, worth £26million at £90,000 per week but which would remove the get out clause.
Martins who is already contracted for another 3 and a half years will be committing himself to the northeast until 2013 shoudl he sign.
He said this week:
"These are exciting times and I want to stay"
In other news - Defender Steven Taylor is also ready to sign a new contract with the club, which will cause a hugh sigh of relief amongst the fans.
