Shola's In BUT Owen's Out

Newcastle reserves take on Middlesbrough tonight and Shola Ameobi will start after coming back from a hip operation.

However, Michael Owen has not proved his fitness enough to even make the bench, and as written earlier, it does not seem he will make the Chelsea game at the weekend.

Owen and Ameobi both made a comeback behind closed doors against Gretna but only Shola has made tonights reserve game.

Some other players from the first team are playing tonight, including Titus Bramble, Peter Ramage and Charles N'Zogbia.

Andrew Carroll, a second half substitute against Pompey, partners Shola Ameobi upfront.
