With nothing to play for except Premiership prize money, Glenn Roeder and his scouting staff are already preparing for next year.

Roeder himself and scouts were at 3 international games at the weekend to try and find new talent to get Newcastle a European spot next season.

The Magpie's fans will also be desperate for a trophy in the near-bare cabinet next season too.

Roeder was at the Portugal-Lisbon game, scouts were at the Brazil-Chile game, and also the Holland-Romania match.

Roeder said:

"We're also out to see Holland and Romania. There are targets in those two teams.

"And (chief scout) David Mills is off to see Brazil and Chile. There are one or two targets in those two teams.

Joao Moutinho and Nani of Sporting are believed to have interest from Newcastle, as are Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Ryan Babel.

Romanian left-back Razvan Rat is also rumoured to be attracting interest from the North-East outfit.
