Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor has admitted the 2-1 win over Cleta Vigo in which he scored was the best night of his life.

Newcastle came back from 1-0 down to win 2-1 with goals from Sibierski and Taylor’s 86th minute winner.

The young defender was ecstatic and just kept running, earning himself the name ‘Forrest Gump’.

Taylor said:

“We have managed to qualify and that means a lot to everybody. I am absolutely delighted.

"It was the best night of my life - I think you could tell by my celebration.

"Maybe it was a little bit over the top, but I just could not stop running and celebrating.

"It has been coming. I was definitely due one and it could not have happened any better, scoring the winner against Celta Vigo.

"You could see by my celebration how much it meant to me. It was my first goal for Newcastle and to score it at the Gallowgate End was unbelievable.

"It was a great feeling. I cannot explain what was in my head.

"I saw it come over Titus (Bramble) and there was no reason why I could not score. I just stuck my head on it and it was in the back of the net.

"All the lads just stopped running. It was one of the best experiences of my life and I made sure I celebrated in a good manner."
