Glenn Roeder has thanked Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson for letting Giuseppe Rossi come on loan to Newcastle.

The 19 year old has helped Newcastle’s striker problems by joining on loan until January.

The youngster has no problems scoring goals, netting 5 senior goals and 32 in 34 games for the reserves.

Roeder said:

"A lot of other Premiership clubs wanted Giuseppe and I suppose some people will be surprised that we have got him.

"But I must thank Sir Alex Ferguson for his part in this because I really believe that he has done us a big favour.

"Alex would have been happy to keep him because he is undoubtedly one of Manchester United's top, top youngsters.

"In fact, I have to say that Giuseppe's goalscoring record for Manchester United Reserves is nothing short of phenomenal."
