Rumoured Newcastle transfer targets, Real Madrid’s Jonathon Woodgate and Chelsea’s Robert Huth, look like they won’t be coming to St. James’ Park, as Sky Sports and various other news sites have reported they are having medicals at Middlesbrough.

Newcastle are desperate to strengthen at the back before the transfer window shuts in less than 48 hours.

They had been linked with both Woodgate and Huth, who were both also linked with Boro.

Woodgate. has struggled again with injury at Real Madrid and has lost his place to Cannavaro in the side.

The former Leeds and Newcastle defender opted to go back to his hometown club for a season long loan.

Robert Huth was set to sign for Boro in a £5 million deal earlier in the summer, but failed a medical and the deal was cancelled. Huth and Boro will be hoping that this time he will pass and the deal will be completed for the German.
