This Thursday night: Get your scarves out and show your support for former boss Sir Bobby Robson! The idea, brought to my attention by Toon fan Jonny Hall, is all about saluting him and wishing him to get better as soon as possible.
Hi mate, I write for Newcastle-Online.com although this idea has not come directly from them. I've been contacted about an idea re: Sir Bobby's cancer planned for Thursday night's game.Since Sir Bobby has been diagnosed with brain cancer, this idea is all about a salute to him wishing him to get better as soon as possible. Since he is a scarf man (always wearing them), I thought it would be good if at Thursday night's game fans could bring their scarves and we could chant and swing our scarves for him. I've spoken to my bosses at N-O and they said that they would be behind the support for it.I'm also in the process of contacting other Newcastle United sites who I'm sure will be behind the idea and also the Evening Chronicle. They said they would get back to me and the Chronicle would be all up for support for it if I got enough backing. Since it's difficult to directly contact all fans going to the game, I was wondering if your site would be behind this gesture and if you would post an article about it on your site, encouraging fans going to the game to take their scarves and chant for Sir Bobby. With the game being beamed out live of five, it would be a gesture seen by the nation.
