Looking to the future: Hot prospects to get a look in.

The club didn't seem particularly interested in nurturing academy prospects during the Billy Davies era.

Next season expect to see highly rated youngsters that have come through the ranks at the Wilford Lane academy play a part in Forest's mounting of a promotion challenge.

"When you have people like Jamaal, Danny Meadows and Patrick Bamford coming through, we have to give them a pathway to progress into the first team," said chief executive Mark Arthur.

"Steve will reintroduce the development squad, because we have a number of young players coming through who are representing England at junior level.

"That is fantastic testimony to Nick Marshall and the work he has done with the academy.

"But we now have to bridge the gap between the youth team and the first team.

"That is why Steve is going to bring back the development squad, to try and create a pathway for those very talented young players to come through.

"Just because you are a talented young player, it does not mean you are automatically going to be a superstar in the first team.

"But it is responsible of us to create a pathway for them to get an opportunity.

"He has been part of that at Manchester United and he has implemented it himself at Middlesbrough."

Name:Jamaal Lascelles
Nationality:English
Date of Birth:11/11/1993
Position:

Defender

Jamaal is a highly rated player and has previously seen Forest forced to stave off interest from non other than Premiership heavyweights Arsenal. Promoted to training with the first team under Billy Davies, Lascelles' only first team action to date has been an appearance against Mansfield Town in a non-competetive fixture. Could this academy prospect be an England international of the future?

Heard SM wants to make Billy Payntor his first signing. A fee of £500k should be enough to persuade LUFC to sell.
