Whether Forest can match Nicky Shorey's wage demands may prove to be irrelevant as it is reported that the player simply does not want to join the City Ground club.
According to the DAILY EXPRESS, out-of-favour Villa left-back Nicky Shorey has his heart set on playing top-flight football in the forthcoming season.
This will come as a massive blow to reds fans who saw their team's fortunes deteriorate dramatically following influential Shorey's return to Villa at the end of his loan spell last season. Many saw the failure to secure Shorey's services on a permanent basis in January as the catalyst which cost the club automatic promotion.
West Ham have also been linked with the 29-year-old. The £2-million-rated defender has a year left on his contract and spent the end of last season on loan at Europa League finalists Fulham.
