As we confirmed yesterday, Forest are definitely looking into bringing Nicky Shorey to the City Ground on a permanent basis.
In line with what our sources reported yesterday, Billy Davies has spoken out to confirm his interest in bringing the ex-England international defender to the City Ground.
"It would be a no brainer for us to look at Nicky if he was available," said Davies.
"If he is somebody we could possibly sign, then we have to look at it.
"He impressed everyone during his loan spell at the club. He fitted in with the players and slotted into the squad perfectly.
"If something can be done, if we can bring him to the club again, then we have to look at it.
"He is a player with obvious quality and there is no question he did a good job for us while he was here. "He would be a good addition if it could be done."
Coming as he rejects Motherwell's offer of signing Mark Reynolds, this will be seen as a signal of intent from the manager. Knowing how Davies' mind works, it doesn't seem as though he would make a public announcement unless he was confident that a deal could be reached with Villa.
