Yesterday it was reported on TRENTSIDE and subsequently in the Daily Mirror that Nottingham Forest are lining up a 2 million swoop for the Bluebird. The midfielder's contract expires shortly which firmy stacks things in Forest's favour.

Cardiff cannot afford to let players go for less than their market value, however the club may have no option as many of their players have contracts which are due to expire very shortly. Amongst these soon to be out-of-contract players is none other than rumoured transfer interest Peter Whittingham

The former Aston Villa youngster topped Championship scoring charts last season notching up an impressive 22 goals on his tally.

Other names being thrown around as unconfirmed interest include West Ham, Birmingham City and Everton. Whittingham has played in the Premiership before with Villa and his spell in the top-flight proved largely uninspiring. Now that he is making a name for himself at this level, clubs are starting to take note and apparently believe that he is now ready for the step up.

If these reports are true, they could raise the asking price significantly.

Well as I say in the article, this is purely speculation at the moment. The words that are being said by the few "in the know." Reliable people, but the club have been known to send dont smokescreens etc.

However what Im hearing is from the same source that fed me the Whittingham story in the first place and that has subsequently been making the rounds heavily.

I'd love it if it were to transpire that we were the only interest however!

well look. if its true then at the end of the day it comes down to being 2nd maybe 3rd choice at a prem team that have no realistic hope of achieving anything, or battling for promotion with forest playing open football towards the top of the table and aiming for whats actually a realistic goal
