Rovers play for 65 minutes with ten men and fail to hold on as Colchester moved in second spot in League One with a 1-0 win at Layer Road thanks to a second half free-kick from Wayne Brown after a foul by Rovers substitute Jason McAteer.

"The sending off changed the game and was disappointing.  I felt both players went in hard and heavy for the ball.  The experienced, older player, stayed on the ground and waited for treatment.  Stephen, who is still young, stood up and it looked as if he was the aggressor in the challenge.”

"Despite everything that went against us I thought we stuck at it.  I could not fault the players for effort and determination. We worked ever so hard and we did not seem to have too many decisions go in our favour.”

"I felt that in the last 20 minutes we were the stronger side and we probably had the best chances in the second half.  Steve Jennings will be disappointed he did not convert one of those."

"The disappointing thing was the goal. We gave away too many free-kicks around the edge of our box. We were punished for giving away a bad free-kick for Jason's tackle (on Mark Yeates).  Jason nodded at me when he came off at the end because he knows he should not have given away the foul."

"We always felt the game against Bristol City on Saturday was going to be a big one for us and it's even more of a big game now."
