After all the recent rumours about Robbie Fowler and Steve McManaman moving to Prenton Park in the Summer, all of a sudden those rumours can no longer be dismissed as untrue. Tranmere have announced that they will play Premiership Manchester City at Prenton Park on Friday July 15th at 7.45pm.

Rovers left it late last year to announce their pre-season campaign possibly due them waiting for confirmation from the two Spanish Premier League who were the eventual opponents at home.  This time the season is not even over and yet we have the first of no doubt a number of friendlies announced already.

How ironic too that after recent speculation linking Robbie Fowler and Steve McManaman with moves to Prenton Park in the summer, that Tranmere's first friendly opponents to be announced will be Manchester City.

The rumours had surfaced on the internet and were linked to the fact that Rovers Captain Jason McAteer is good friends with the Premiership pair after their time together at Liverpool.  The rumours were passed off by many as ridiculous but now - albiet in a different capacity - Fowler and McManaman are coming to Prenton Park this summer.

The game will take place on Friday July 15th with Kick-Off at 7.45pm.  The club has announced that ticket prices and details of other friendly games will be announced at a later date.
