Tranmere need the win to pile on pressure on the chasing teams.

If McNulty doesn't play then whoever comes in must be solid at the back and fit in.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

Massive game we are 3 points ahead they have games in hand so can't afford anything but a win otherwise the pressure is on and it's right out of our hands for sure, we should fear no one I'm hopeful of a win and I'd take a 0-1 peno "the usual"

Going by their forum, they may have a problem at left back with the possibility of Modeste[who was up front at our place]having to fill in there. Wasn't he the player that was ushered off and ''hid in the players tunnel'' for the last few minutes after the ''incident'' between their subs and our Town Paddock ''inhabitants''?

To be fair to him you cant say about any team that its an easy points, the thing for me is he never seems ton say it in a tounge in cheek sort of I have to say this way, he always seemsbto be genuinely anxious or nervous about things an it shows in the team even when we win games we go from cruising to hanging on in one fell swoop. Them two results early have caused it I think when we threw leads away dont seem to have got over it.

Trouble is it's a reflection of how low we have fallen, 8/9 years ago they were in level 8 of the pyramid then level 7 moving into level 6 for a couple of years then level 5.

Most of their time has been in level 6 or below now we find it's a hard place to go ,sad ain't it.(Sm40)

The toughest thing about the trip will be getting back from the ground to Dover Priory after the match in time for the bus replacements to Folkestone Central so that I can catch a train from there which will get me back to St Pancras and Euston in time for my booked train.

Since I got my tickets they've changed the times around which will make it far more difficult.

The line from Dover to Folkestone is closed ''because of the sea wall being washed away''.

We didnt lose, that was the main objective for that fixture. Its one of the more exciting season endings weve had in a long while, around 6 teams chasing 2 places. Anyone can do it, we are in a bit of form, im sure we can grind some wins out.

The midweek fixtures could be decisive. Braintree, Dover and Eastleigh are all at home on Tuesday unfortunately.

I think it's time to start praying for a few lucky breaks.

And today's result is not the problem because an away draw against a decent team isn't that bad. The bad result was the Guiseley one.

Not the best result, but at least we didn't lose. I was following the Twitter commentary and it looked like our first shot on target was I the 85th minute.

Assuming we are fighting for 2 play off spots, we have
Us
Braintree, 1 point behind, 3 games in hand,
Wrexham, 3 points behind, 1 game in hand, but +5 better goal difference then us.
Dover, 3 points behind, 3 games in hand
Eastleigh, 3 points behind, 3 games in hand.

It really is out of our control now.

On Tuesday braintree, Eastleigh and Dover all play one of their catch up games

We've not played well the last few Games but we're still FOURTH! As people above have said and as I've said just before the main objective today was not to lose and to stay ahead of Dover - a win would have been a huge boost but that will do.

I'm not sure I agree with those comments, possibly not fit enough. For me as I have said many times we lack a decent striker, I think if we had one of the players who have knocked in 15+ Open play goals we would be comfortable in the TOP 5. We are only 1 or 2 players away from being really decent in this league.
Brabin needed to make a quality striker his TOP target, he marked Norwood as his main target which as a footballer you can't argue with and has done well but he isn't for me your main striker, maybe he will come good and start bag a few more of his chances hopefully just in time to see us win the playoffs, but I fear we may finish outside of the top 5 this year

You can hve the best players in the world but if the tactics are wrong whats the point. To move Norwood out wide to to fit Higdon in is just one mistake made this seasnon. We've played for a large part of this season with a lone striker, another mistake. some of the players are'nt good enough, Higdon for one. As I've said before how many managers would put an unfit sriker who has'nt played any football for a while into a team that cant score goals. How many goals has he scored since he got into the team. At the start of of the season we were scoring goals, Bromley, Chester, Gateshead, because we were playing with two up front. Then for some reason Brabin changes to one up front and the goals dry up. For me the buck stops at the manager.

We played two up front again today as we have with the last two games.

Dover were nothing special today and did little to suggest they'd get any better results than us in the remaining games - other than having the most biased officials so far this season in their favour and also diving and cheating.

A great result today the important thing was not to lose and we managed that!

Deadly, Higdon is useless and kirby is'nt a striker ( kirby should have been in the team long ago but not as a striker). The fact that two up front has'nt worked too well is because of who the two are. Can anyone say that Higdon has been a success. Yes we did play better when we went one up front, did we score,no! Dover only have to have one result better than us and they're in the play offs and we're not and they've got three more chances than us.If all the team's had played the same amount of games it would have been a good result. We did'nt score with two up front so why did Brabin think we would with one. Brabin thinks that if we dont lose we've done well.

I love how when we were getting wins, everyone was posting that we'll make it. Two (yes, just TWO) draws later and it's all doom & gloom!

Yes, Braintree & Dover both have 3 games in hand, but they've got to win them to impact us and no one, apart from Cheltenham, have shown themselves to have unstoppable form.

Braintree play Gateshead on Tuesday, I'd say one of those 2 will drop out of the race after that game. The desired result would probably be a draw in that one. The same night, Dover play Lincoln. No easy game for them either.

End of the day, if we as fans give up hope...what message do we send out to the players trying to do the job?

Nice to see you've recovered from your Guiseley trauma Deadly and you're back on the path of positivity. Being generous you could say Higdon has improved with each game but he did set the bar so low with his first performances so there was only one direction to go. Personally I don't think he's the answer to our lack of fire power and his lack of pace is glaringly obvious (discovered today that he is known as Pigdon amongst some of the younger fans which is clearly uncomplimentary but is an honest reflection of how they view him). I'm staying positive about the whole situation and am looking forward to the Derby games next season against Wrexham and Chester if all goes pear shaped. We really are at last chance saloon though and need to treat each game as a cup final now, throw caution to the wind home and away. Draws away from home have there place but that place has been visited for the last time today if we harbour any more desires for the play offs. I still believe we can do it but I also believe that one day there will be world peace, no famine, religious harmony, an end to homelessness, crime free towns and cities, honest politicians, cures for all life threatening conditions, no racism, no homophobia, no unemployment, an end to fraud and corruption, no animal cruelty............ I agree fityyears . I am the eternal optimist but I am also a realist . Our home form mid season has cost us . I am a great advocate of 4-1-3-2 reasoning that we still have a solid back 4 with a midfielder sitting back to protect with 2 wingers getting forward to put ball's over for 2 up front . This HAS to be better than trying to feed Norwood over the top ( which is easy to defend ) , or on occasions try and play through a packed midfield . WHY hasn't he give Stockton a run ? There are 6 teams chasing 2 places and as I said I'm the eternal optimist but if I was a betting man I wouldn't have a Sheckle on us making the playoffs . ( I hope I'm wrong ) !

You Can actually change the side at any point unit kick off. And even if you couldn't. Substitutions are valid from kick off. If brabin is so insistent on playing an old, overweight striker, then I would rather it was GTF, at least he's creative!

I had every hope of Higdon being a great signing, on paper he should be. But quiet simply, it hasn't worked.

I could see from the Twitter feed that we didn't have a shot in the first half, so that suggest we were playing for a draw. I really feel for the fans that made the trip!

I am detecting a feeling that I have experienced a lot this season - mild hysteria.

I have heard (and written) all sorts of analyses in the last seven months or so ranging from under achievement and incorrect to ineffective man management and poor player recruitment and retention.

Partly this is the nature of the beast as a football fan and we all (not so) secretly enjoy this pre and post match debate.

But, I do think we need to put some of our fears, worries and angst away for 8 matches and truly take stock when the whole 46 games have been played. It's only then that we can give a fair analysis on the season and ruminate and what happens next.

Until then let's take each game as it comes and hope for the best!

At no point did it seem to me like we were playing for a draw and surely anyone who was actually there would agree with that sentiment.

We were frustrated upfront by Dover who lets not forget are the team our fans are most fearing so must be doing things right and added to one of the worst officiating displays of the season giving Dover free-kick shooting chances at every opportunity we could never get going first half.

I've seen Wrexham's run-in in particular and you could say that it's worse than ours....

Chester (H) - a game that's never easy regardless of how Chester are performing at the moment
Grimsby (A)
Cheltenham (H)
Forest Green (A)
Dover (H)
Tranmere A)
Braintree (H)
Barrow (A)

Admittedly this means that other teams are likely to get points around us one way or the other but there are not many 'easy' run-ins for teams around us either!

A draw suits Dover better than it suits us.

They have 3 games in hand on us and tbh they will probably overtake us.

There is nothing great about us at the moment.

We cannot score goals from open play and that will intimately be our downfall.

At this stage of the season we should be going out to win every game.

We will not get to the play off final playing like we are, there are better teams around us who will play better than we do and the prospect of having to beat Grimsby or FGR over 2 legs is a worrying factor at the moment.

There is no killer instinct about our play, even when we go ahead we struggle to hold on to a lead.

Just not good enough at this late stage and I do not believe we have what it takes to get out of this division.

I expected us to lose the game given how recent seasons have delivered nothing but disappointment in important games (because I've got used to it).

If you mean what did I want from the game, after only drawing on Tuesday I wanted to win yesterday as I'd have taken four points from the two games as a positive. However the main aim would have been to ensure Dover didn't get three regardless of whether than meant us getting three or one.

To not lose and keep them three points behind us for now was the main positive.

Is it August or have I just seen the same excuses every week since then. Is their any game we have failed to win this season due to our own endeavours or lack of them. Or is it all the fault of those independent rules adjudicators who couldn't care less what sides they are monitoring coupled with 23 other cheeky teams daring to frustrate us in front of goal by using some sort of strategic plan or tactics if you will to achieve this. They could almost be seen as opponents in some sort of 46 game tournament in which the team who wins most games gets some sort of reward for their daring, endeavour and abilities to cope with frustrating situations and decisions by rules adjuticators to award their opposition free kicks and or penalties when they breach said rules. Sometimes I would swear the mangers of the other sides have watched some sort of Medievil recording maybe a VHS tape of their future opponents, maybe even attended one or two live matches to assess strengths and weaknesses and then gone about formulating those strategies, what cheats! Genius I say.

Serious question deadly, what was your expectation of the game, as you left you house yesterday morning? And your expectations for the season?

Cheers, the only reason I ask, is that you are the only fan who went, who has been remotely up beat. Everyone else has said we were crap. It's been like that for a few matches this season, so one can only assume that you have much lower expectations or look at the bigger picture. And you've basically confirmed that you expect us to lose. I'll admit, In league 1 I was like that, however last season and this season I have always expected us to win. Hence the added dissappointment

By Dovers season average, you would expect them to get 5 points from their 3 games in hand. That's why beating them and putting a6 point fusion between us was so important yesterday.

Deadly every game you are ways making excuses of some sort no matter what tripe Brabin and rovers churn out most weeks ,reading between the lines you are well known at the club is it you don't wish to offend those people ,hardly a negative word all season no matter what, though I respect you for your views and I am in no way being nasty but I just can't see were some of your views come from you are definitely in the majority. No offence intended

At least there was a clean sheet, but not getting a shot in the first half wasn't great, however changing things and bringing Harris on was a good idea, as he is effective by and large and that allowed Tranmere to be more effective, which admittedly wasn't hard, but the draw was not a brilliant result, however Dover are still behind and could throw things away.

Tranmere just need to regroup and play every remaining game like it's life or death,

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

Every one that went that comes on here has been negative but the people I go with don't post on Forums or social media as they can't bear the endless negativity all the time.

There are many people I know that went that weren't negative about it.

I'm not well known by everyone at the Club at all and certainly not by those at the top.

With respect (no offence intended in return here) but you haven't been posting that long under your current name so I don't know whether you were just a reader of the site or didn't view the site at all this time last year.

At that point I was calling for Adams to be sacked from as early as January and at times I was mercilessly slated for it on here up to the point where most then realised I was right all along - by which time getting rid of him probably would have not made any difference anyway.

I could say exactly the opposite about those[quite a few]that I was talking to both at the match and on the way home.

The reality is that throughout this season our performances have been brittle and regardless of results there has been a sense of under performance on the pitch. For some the season feels better because we are winning more games than in the three seasons before but at a standard where the under lying sense of being below par remains.

I admire Deadly's attempt to be positive and his willingness to defend Higdon. What I am less convinced about is the justification for signings strikers that are unfit when the aim was to make up ground. When two thirds of the season had gone it has to be questioned what the value is of Higdon when he needs even half of the remaining time to get fit. On evidence of performances so far it is easy to see why the Sheff U supporters had such a low opinion of him (and he was fit then). By the end of the season I am convinced that he and GTF will represent the worse possible return on their wages and yet at times the rest of the set up has been compromised to accommodate each.
What is clear is that by the end of the season we will (other than Norwood) not have a striker worth retaining and that says it all about the under lying problem of this season.
Perhaps a starting point for next season is that we should at least look to fit forwards

I just dont understand Brabins thought process " we're not scoring goals so what I will do I'll sign an over weight unfit striker. That's not worked so what can I do now, I know I'll sign another over weight unfit striker that's bound to work." I would love us to finish in the top 5 but with Brabin's mind set I just cant see it happening.

Hi Old Rover - Brabin also signed an overweight and unfit defender who is now our best player by far. He has taken a risk with Higdon which so far has failed to pay off.

Agree about McNulty but you could see after a couple of games he was going to be ok. It's the opposite with Higdon. He has'nt improved at all and we have'nt got the time or games to wait until he does,

McNulty had also been consistently playing for Luton before signing for us. So although he has never been trim, he was match fit!
