I missed the Eastleigh game, gutted to read the feed back from the game..The lads need to show that spirit again tonight. Now I understand why we are only allowed to have five on the bench, alot of ten aside games in this league. The refs don't seem to be able to cope with 11 aside. Looking forward to SWA 2-1 win tonight but I dont mind a 6-0 home win.
Let's face it the present team are not good enough for this league. We need a bigger squad if we are to get into the playoffs, winning the league is a definite no.
That was @#$%& poor no one can defend that display I'd like to know what brabin said at half time he must have said more of the same lads because we just kept on lumping it to no one most of the time
For what it's worth Barrow were woeful and a draw would have been fair but we were equally poor and that's all there is too it.
We either need to bring Stockton back or bring in another striker temporarily.
Neither striker was that good today but Norwood does all the running at least whereas Margetts for me offers absolutely nothing - Mangan would have had a hat trick on those Margetts chances tonight!
October looks like it will be a disappointing month , 6 points dropped at home and unlikely get anything from Saturday . Definitely not champion form. Looks like have to aim for the play offs,, but we definitely need another striker, tonight shows we cant cope when we lose a couple of players.
East of the Pennines I wonder how many will blame the officials tonight?
We were poor tonight, there is no denying that but unfit one am.sick.of watching that standard of officiating .Another team tonight that put elbows into everything, wasted time and stole 10 yards on every throw in yet the ref did nothing and we end up with three booked.
And on the subject of throws-in can someone please draw a picture for our lot????
Deadly Submarine Unlikely to get anything in the same way we won 1-0 at Cheltenham you mean?!
With new players likely to be brought in before the game and our better record against the higher placed teams I wouldn't rule anything out!
We had Mangan at Cheltenham but wont at Forest Green hes by far our best forward
We were poor tonight however, better finishing and we could been 3-1 up at half time,
Norwood does all the hard work and then passes it straight to the goal keeper. Jenno should have buried his chance and Margetts snap shot on another day would have gone in.
Almost forgot Liam blasting over the bar make that 4-1
Instead, we mess around in front of our 18 yard box loose the ball and is 1-0. Thought Scotty could have done better?
Whilst you can't blame the officials for the way we played they did IMO, uphold the absolutely **** standard we have come to expect in this league.
Another Fact of the Day
After two defeats it seems dinamofookdarest is back on the GB crusade or am I being a bit harsh!!!
Let's not bring Cole back. He is poor and can't hold ball up. A season at Southport possibly gives him chance to improve, get some confidence and possibly make something of his potential.
Would be interesting to get a Southport fans view of his performance so far as he never really looked like he had any consistency for is
I'd like to know which players we had on the field tonight that could hold the ball up? The answer is no-one!
Holding the ball up is a huge strength of Stockton's but as usual with a lot of our fans he doesn't score goals so therefore he's useless! It's been the same for years with many forward players!
That's not a go at you AndyMase just a general response to some of the things heard from our fans in recent years!
As for Dinamofookdarest, they appear to only be able to play online when we've done badly!
Clueless, lifeless, tacticless,we just lumped the ball forward all game why the hell did'nt Brabin try something different. The substitution made things worse.
😂😂 a little harsh jack of all trades... I just don't like the guy, been to every tranmere game this season apart from one and litterally all game every game all he does is moan to the referee, yes the referee can change a game but they don't make your team perform and play like that.. Will support the team no matter what, just don't like Gary Brabin
To be fair to Brabin there wasn't much different available tonight.
The only realistic sub to bring on was Jackson (which he did). The others were a keeper, two defenders (one returning from injury and the other don't even get me started!) and a youth player with no first team experience!
In terms of subs available it was out of Brabin's hands tonight although the approach to the game left a lot to be desired admittedly.
Poorest ive seen for a while at home, no effort at all and no clue going fowards . Hill and Harris the only 2 that looked interested . No idea why we didn't try to change the formation , pretty obvious it wasn't working the whole game. We need a few loaners fast!
No worries, we agree on a number of things but Cole isn't one of them. I liked him but just feel he has gone backwards in last 2 years.i would have agreed at one point but he seems more interested in grabbing the defender than he is the ball, rarely holds it up well against the experienced defenders. I prefer to take the long term view of leave him somewhere he is playing week in week out and see if he can come back and realise his potential if we manage to get promoted

If I'm being honest, for someone who bagged goals for fun in the Youth side, I never used to think he played that well in those Youth games but would pop up with a goal (or in one case a hat-trick) despite this/
However tonight for me showed a need and I feel we have that need without going elsewhere although I suspect by the time Saturday comes around we will have brought one new face in if not more!
Beyond terrible against as bad a team as we've seen all season. What happened to the nine who battled so well for the last part of Saturday's game? The whole atmosphere was totally flat on and off the pitch and nobody seemed capable [or WILLING]of doing something about it.
How we missed Mangan,Dawson and Maynard[who must be restored in central midfield on Saturday].
The man of the match vote should be retitled the LEAST WORST.
just woke up here in hk and getting ready for work. have seen lasts night result and just quickly read all the forum members comments. put me on a downer for the day. need these key players back asap. is the squad to thin? brabin stated he doesnt want a particularly big squad to work with and feels he can achieve more with a smaller , close knit group of players. not so sure about that myself.
Just to go back to Stockton.... i noticed he wasnt playing last night against Chester... not even on bench.... possible injury... or possible recall???

Yeah I noticed this too but am also unsure as to why!
What frustrates me with Brabin is the biggest issue from their soft goal was where the throw in was taken, he didn't seem to find fault with any aspect of our defending - I assume the issue was we were stood in position for a throw in taken 1yd over the half way line not 3yds.....
Cant play Jennings and Harris together doesnt work. I also dont think Jennings is particularly up for it. You dont go from a team that battled and fought and has taken some good results to that wuthout somdone causing major disruption in your side, for me its Jennings.

interesting point higgo. jennings may well be having a negative effect on the side.
Even after making the change we still lumped the ball up front, it had'nt worked all night thats what I meant by doing something different. For me the wrong player was taken off. I've kept quiet about Jennings so far but he brings nothing to the team. 90% of his passes go sideways or backwards and he gives away too many freekicks.
Everything seemed to be going well. Good unbeaten run and after the point at Wrexham I thought two home games would put us right up there. Hands up, before the Eastleigh game I said on here I couldn't see anyone beating us and although dissapointed it was just one if those days. Last night was straight back to boreham wood standard and it really is perplexing. Tough fixtures coming up and I honestly can't predict how it's going to go. Still keeping the faith though. Swa

According to the report on the Southport FC website, Stockton did play last night against Chester.
Having slept on last night's game I am bereft of an answer as to how a team can be so schizophrenic in its performances. There are, however, a number of absolute truths arising from the season so far:
The Strengths...
1. We CAN play good football when we want to and when the ball's kept on the deck.
2. We do have an excellent spine to the team i.e. Davies, Hogan, Harris & Mangan.
3. Attendances and support generally have been better than expected.
4. We have probably the best possible owners for Tranmere Rovers who have secured the club from going under.
5. We have probably the best Youth Team in a generation.
6. We have attacking, exciting wingers who can stretch the play BUT...
The Weaknesses...
1. Wingers who keep the ball too long rather than crossing, releasing or laying it off.
2. A captain who can't lead and who thinks he's better than this league.
3. Right back position. Much as I like Richie Sutton he's no attacking wing back hence we see him lumping the ball up front. Compare this with a Matty Hill when on form who can bomb on...
4. The team is tactically naive. There is no plan B - or at least none that the team know how to execute - amply demonstrated whenever there are substitutions and the shape and movement of the team collapses.
5. Still a relatively new team, developing understandings between midfielders and the channels strikers need/want to run in to.
6. A section of fans that can impart fear and negativity upon players.
As far as last night's game is concerned I would have liked to have seen Tol Omotola from the Youth Team on the bench and brought on simply from the point of view that in the last 20 minutes neither Barrow nor our strikers looked as though they were going to score and I think would have lifted the crowd out of its lethargy.

clearly a few injuries/suspensions have caused us issues, coupled with other problems. GB mentioned squad size early on in the season, has this negativity set in the players minds, it's clearly been an issue discussed around the dressing room and should such negative thoughts be voiced? The other puzzling factor for me is the squad size, we are allegedly the "big" club with a top 4 budget, what actually does that mean. Has GB had to make a decision on a few well paid quality players over a larger less able squad. If we are concerned about squad size why have players been loaned out, Is it to free up wage budget to bring the likes of Dawson in or they are deemed not good enough to be around the squad. We have shown great improvment recently and to de rail in one game in such a way is worrying. If what we are being told about finance is true we need to see real investment in the squad through January I feel.
Ten minutes to go five Tranmere players in a line across the back marking one Barrow Boy, and the ball is in the Barrow midfield only Jay Harris had any interest, and he had stopped tackling because he had been already booked, back to the Micky Adams nightmare last night, poor performance.Lets hope sum leaves fall in the Forest on Saturday.I would not like to pick the team for next game some changes needed.
A few minutes to go-Barrow got a free kick ten yards outside our area. They put nobody in the box.We had five at least back. One of their players put a short pass to the second -then another short pass went to the third[their number 4] who hit a very decent low shot that Davies had to tip around the post. The defence were fast asleep.Nobody made any attempt to close down and stop this-good job Davies was awake. Throughout the game,Barrow very effectively closed us down and blocked many of our potential passes. We seemed to have no answer to this tactic.
Gb needs to stop ranting and raveing at officials and have a go at the players or is that not allowed in football any more ? Just like us fans who are not allowed to express an opinion because we should be one hundred percent behind our team no mater what .
The result was not a particularly good one, but it was only a 1-0 defeat, so not too much that would need to be worked on, but even though I commend Brabin for not using injuries as an excuse, they almost certainly did play a part and Mangan in the team could have lifted players and potentially scored.
Hopefully the current injuries don't prevail for too long.
It would be typical after such a result if Tranmere beat Forest Green, but in reality it has to happen to keep some hold on a possible 1ts place finish in May, as going 11 points behind them would make things very difficult.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
With a present injury free squad we would beat Forest Green but the squad is to small and we cannot rely on our best four players to remain injury or suspension free. In reality Tranmere will not top the league on present form either Grimsby or Cheltenham could have that honour. If we add a few more players now and not wait until January the play offs would be a good bet.
