In our second Man of the Match vote of the new season following Tranmere's superb 4-1 away victory at Gateshead last Tuesday, Liam Ridehalgh got the nod to take the award but the result was close.....

After a full week of voting following Tranmere's first away game of the new season, we can now reveal that the Man of the Match for Tranmere's excellent 4-1 away win at Gateshead last Tuesday night, as voted for by you the fans and readers of this site, was Liam Ridehalgh. 

Despite only playing the first 45 minutes of the game in the North East, a goal and two assists in the first half, coupled with an all round decent performance, was enough to secure Ridehalgh, usually a defender but currently playing in left midfield, the Man of the Match award for the game as voted for by Total Tranmere readers.

As you can see from the poll below which saw a total of 19 votes cast during the full length voting period this time around, the vote was incredibly close with just one vote separating the winner Ridehalgh, who polled 42% of the vote (8 votes) and second placed Matt Hill whose wonder goal sealed the 4-1 win in the second half.

Second placed Hill polled 37% of the vote (7 votes) and the only other three starters in the game to earn any votes were Jay Harris with 11% of the vote (2 votes) whilst Steven Jennings and Andy Mangan each polled 5% of the vote (1 vote).

Thanks to everyone who voted in the Man of the Match poll and you can currently still vote for your Man of the Match from Saturday's 0-0 draw away at Braintree Town on THIS LINK whilst the poll for tomorrow night's game at home to FC Halifax Town will be available a couple of hours after the match ends.
