Tranmere midfielder announces retirement from the game......
Jason Koumas one of the most talented players to wear the white of Tranmere has today announced that he is bringing down the curtain on his playing career.
The 35 year old midfielder began his professional career with Tranmere back in Feb 98 and generated over £7.5m in transfer fees through his career which included spells with West Brom, Wigan and Cardiff.
Wrexham born Koumas made 34 appearances for Wales scoring 10 times although his International Career did not go without some hicups along the way.
The ex Mosslands School pupil made 150 appearances in his two spells for the Superwhites scoring 37 goals.
For Tranmere fans his goal against Everton in the 3-0 victory in the FA Cup tie at Goodison Park will always be his crowning glory.
All at Total Tranmere wish Jason all the success in the future and we thank him for all the memories.

Maybe we should do a top 5 Koumas moments poll. What do you think Deadly?
1. Goal vs Everton, 2001
Brilliant finish and technique to lift it over the keeper first time
2. Goal vs Colchester, 2002
If this is the game i am thinking about he ran from the half way line, took it round half their team, rounded the goal keeper and put it in the net. The grumpy guy behind me moaned the whole time he was running with the ball! (this is the guy who called Micky Adams a sex pest and a pervert this season! ha)
3. Goal vs Wrexham, 2001
Quality free kick which, even though the Wrexham keeper knew where it was going, couldn't stop it
4. 1st half Hat trick vs Cambridge Utd, 2001
Granted was against a lower league opposition but they where goals of the highest quality.
5. First game back vs Wrexham, pre season 2013
Just loved the atmosphere and the reception he got just warming up on the touchline. Think someone has a video on youtube of him coming off the bench

ha ha, my bad
He always treated the club well in an age when so many professionals look only at their own needs.For me that is as memorable as any goal. I hope that there is some way the club can use him as an ambassador for he is a good role model and it would be an appropriate way of the club showing that it values players who play fair by the club
I agree with DevonExile,he signed a contract when clubs were interested in him to make sure Tranmere got a decent fee,he is Tranmere through & through
Jason Koumas is an absolute legend and one of my favourite Rovers players. As gutted as I am, I respect his decision because I understand the physical limitations that come with age. He is the only one that knows his body after all. I would like to see him retained at the club in some capacity whether that be as a coach somewhere in the set up or as a club ambassador.

I disagree he had something to offer when fit and his great goal against Oxford in the cup, helped Tranmere progress and get some vital revenue.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
That goal when he ran through the entire defence number two above was one of the best individual goals I've ever seen. Thanks for the memories Jase
