Full-back becomes third player to sign new contract

Article Header - Breaking News

Tranmere right-back Danny Holmes has signed a two-year contract extension at the club, keeping him at Prenton Park until the summer of 2015.

24-year old Holmes, who is a product of Tranmere's Centre of Excellence, returned to Tranmere in June 2011 after being released by Rovers boss Ronnie Moore two-years earlier.

The Woodchurch born defender, who spent the two year gap playing for Welsh side T.N.S., forced his way into the Tranmere first team in December 2011, and after a number of impressive displays signed a new one-year contract last summer, despite rumoured interest from Celtic and Rangers.

Holmes, who has played in every Tranmere game this season, hasn't missed a Rovers first team fixture since December 17th 2011, the longest unbroken run in the current Rovers squad.

And, in September he scored his first Tranmere goal, netting with a left footed shot away to Crawley Town before scoring a crucial goal against Yeovil at Prenton Park a few weeks later.

On signing the new contract, the full-back said: "I’m really happy to have signed the new contract.

“Everybody knows how much I enjoy playing for Tranmere and I’m delighted the Manager wants me to stay at the Club."

The full-back becomes the third product of the Tranmere youth system to sign a contract until 2015 with the club, following Cole Stockton and Jake Kirby.

In other news, Donervorn Daniels has extended his loan deal with the club from West Brom until the end of the season.

Daniels, 19, arrived at Prenton Park in November and has gone on to make nine appearances for the club, mainly at the heart of Rovers' defence alongside Ashton Taylor.

He's worth the contract, as he's really stepped up since his arrival.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

[i]I think we will probably be selling him if we don't achieve promotion, but looking on the bright side if we go up he's useful if we don't we get a reasonable sum for him(Sm101)
