Tranmere Move To Sign Harrison

Midfielder rejoins Prenton Park club
Tranmere Rovers have today signed central midfielder Danny Harrison on a one-year contract. The 29-year old joins the club on a free transfer after being released by League Two side Rotherham United.
Harrison started his career at Tranmere Rovers, coming through the clubs Centreo of Excellence and making his debut in October 2001 against Wigan Athletic under the management of Ronnie Moore.
The midfielder went on to make 147 appearances over a six year stint at a professional with the club, helping Tranmere to the F.A. Cup Quarter Finals in 2003/04 and the Play-Off semi-finals in 2004/05. He played under the management of four different Rovers managers; Dave Watson, Ray Mathias, Brian Little and Ronnie Moore before being released by Moore following the conclusion of the 2006/07 season.
Upon his release, Harrison joined Rotherham United and has since established himself as a first team regular with the club and would be reunited with former Tranmere players Ian Sharps and Kevin Ellison, as well as former manager Moore, during his time with the club.
Over five years with the Millers, the Merseyside born player made 212 appearances for the club, scoring on 18 occasions. During the 2011/12 season, Harrison captained Rotherham and played 45 games, netting two goals.
Now, after a five year stint away from Prenton Park, Harrison returns to Tranmere Rovers to be managed by Ronnie Moore for a third time. The player has told the Official club website that he is coming back a better player than when he left five years ago, whilst boss Ronnie Moore says that he will be able to play in the John Welsh position for the club. The Tranmere boss has also stated that the club have put in offers to a further two midfielders.
Harrison becomes Tranmere's second signing of the summer, following the announcement that Ben Burgess had joined on a two-year deal last week.

The general opinion is that people arent too fussed about this signing, an I'm inlcuded in that.
He spent a number of years in League 2 an didnt get snapped up, so why all of a sudden is he good enough for League 1?
By the sounds of it, hes not been signed to make up the numbers either, with Ronnie saying hes a replacement for Welsh.
I'll back him from the off, but I'm not impressed.

And on topic.. poor signing imo, just hope he's nothing more than back-up.

Can't understand this signing at all.
We've gotten rid of Joss Labadie who was our top scorer having only played a limited number of games, and replaced him with a player which we released years ago because quite frankly he was rubbish.
I know Joss Labadie has a few issues, but surely Ronnie could have had a word and offered him at least another season?
We seem to be slipping backwards with these 2 recent signings.
I don't think either of them are any better than what we had before we released half the team from last season?
Can't believe Ronnie thinks that Danny Harrison is a better player than Labadie ... Seriously???

Perhaps not better but cheaper it`s all about budget could it be we will slid into League 2 with a team built for L2 we will have to wait and see time will tell or is Ronnie seeing some thing in these players we can not see.

I thought he was a decent player when Little was manager. He moved because he didn't get any games when Moore came in so Ronnie obviously saw his value when he moved to Rotherham. Seems ironic though.
Don't make me laugh about Ladabie deserving a new contract.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
To say he was the worst player in a rovers shirt is a matter of opinion. I remember when him and Jennings were together in midfield during the start of little's second full season in charge, he was brilliant. 5 games unbeaten and he stopped everything coming through midfield. Unfortunately as soon as they were fit again, he brought mcateer and rankin back in and we nearly went down!
I'm sick of hearing about Labadie. He looked a great prospect for sure but something was missing from the time he came on loan to what we have seen in the last 2 season's. Both managers must have seen something that we haven't and that's why he didn't figure much. I would rather have a team player than someone who isnt and in my opinion I don't think he was.
Labadie was a loose cannon which is why he never established himself as a reglar starter under Les. Ronnie appears to be looking for players that will listen and then go out and do as they are asked. Might mot promise the most exciting spectacle but, if the results are positive I won't be complaining (although I suspect there will be plenty who will, simply through force of habit)

The problems with Labadie are well known and if you look at my post, I said if maybe Ronnie could educate the lad, then maybe we ould reap the benefit of his true potential.
I hope Harrison has matured as a player and I hope the 2 new signings turn out to be good ones.
Theres still plenty of time to go before the new season begins, and hopefully we'll see some decent talent come in!
Just acting on my initial disappointment, I am more than willing to be proved wrong if it means we'll be competing with the so called better teams next season.
