Goalkeeper set to miss eight weeks with hand injury
Tranmere Rovers goalkeeper Owain Fon Wiliams is set to go under the knife this afternoon to repair the hand he broke in training last Thursday.
The injury will keep the Welsh shot-stopper out of action for eight weeks, with his hand set to be in a cast for the next four weeks, followed by a further two weeks recovery before he can return to training.
Fon Wiliams, who had started all of Tranmere's 23 games this season before Saturday's 3-0 defeat to Exeter, keeping an impressive ten clean sheets in the process, before picking up the injury, described himself as "Gutted" to have picked up the injury on his Twitter account, adding that he was "in safe hands with Gregg" [Blundell, the Tranmere physio].
Because of the injury, Tranmere boss Les Parry jumped into the transfer market late on Thursday, just hours before the loan window was due to close, bringing in Leeds goalkeeper Paul Rachubka on an initial one-month loan deal which will no doubt now be extended now that a time frame has been put on Fon William's absence.
An eight weeks lay off for the 24-year old could keep him out until the end of February, which would see him miss Tranmere's next nine first team fixtures, including the hectic Christmas period.

Was he brought in too quick last week Les could have used Andy Coughlin against Exeter result may have been the same and then gone out and got a goalkeeper on emergency loan in the next two weeks.Only time will tell over the next few weeks if Rachubka can find form.

Totally agree. He fumbled one early on (after another huge error from Ash Taylor in the first place), but after that made three fantastic saves that I counted.
It's the defence that needs a shake up but with Zoum out injured there can be no change on the left really.
Perhaps bring back McChrystal and also give either Holmes or Kay a go at right back.
Raven is flexible, so perhaps a chance to see how he shapes up in another defensive position.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

In my estimation, though not necessarily everyones, he's more reliable than unreliable. Put it this way, if the 3 choices for right back this season were Kay, Cathalina and Darville, Kay would be a schewin every week and I don't think Tranmere would suddenly have the kind of defence Bristol Rovers did last season.
