After another busy week of voting, the results are in for the second Tranmere centre-back of the Decade and yet another landslide result, long-serving defender Ian Goodison has been joined in the centre of defence by Clint Hill in our rapidly forming Dream Team of the Decade....

After a week of your votes, it has been decided that Ian Goodison is the best centre-back of the decade in our Team of the Decade (2000’s) series, becoming the first and possibly only current serving player to make the team.

As you can see from the poll results below, Goodison was the runaway winner of the poll winning 66% of the vote ...

After coming through the ranks at Rovers, Clint Hill made his Rovers debut in a 2-2 draw away at Nottingham Forest in October 1997 and in his next appearance as a substitute away at Hereford United, he scored just fifteen minutes after coming on the field.

Clint went on to make a further 17 appearances that season under John Aldridge and in a Tranmere career that ultimately spanned five years, he played 167 times scoring 20 goals.

Hill's Tranmere career of course spanned the memorable Cup giantkilling era of the late 90's and early 2000's and he was famously and perhaps harshly sent off in the League Cup final at Wembley in 2000 for two yellow cards as Rovers went on to lose 2-1 to Leicester City.

Whilst that was a low point for the defender, he was also part of the Rovers XI that won 3-0 away at Everton in January 2001.  

An injury he picked up just a week or so later away at Southampton in the next round ruled him out of the memorable 4-3 comeback replay of that game and perhaps the fact that he remained out injured until mid-april had some bearing on the fact that Rovers were subsequently relegated at the end of that season to the division where they remain today.

After one season in the lower division with Rovers, Hill left to join Oldham Athletic where he spent just one season before spending five seasons at Stoke which ended with a loan spell at Crystal whom he then joined on a permanent basis for two seasons.

From Palace he moved with Manager Neil Warnock to QPR where he remains today at the top of the Championship and seemingly on course for promotion to the Premier League with which Total Tranmere wish Clint all the best.

So far then the Team of the Decade for the 2000’s looks like this......

 Who will join Achterberg, Roberts, Taylor, Goodison and Hill next on the Team of the Decade (2000’s)?  In the next week we will be voting for the best left midfielder contenders fand at the end of the week the winner will be revealed and placed in the Dream Team.
