Tranmere Rovers have today completed their third permanent signing of the summer

The 6'5 striker joins Rovers on free transfer following his release from Falkirk, where he spent the majority of last season, scoring once in 21 appearances.

The 28-year old has been heavily linked with the club over the last few days and Les Parry has today got his man after the striker completed a medical and penned a two-year deal at Prenton Park.

Striker Showunmi was a late comer to League Football, joining Luton aged 21, but he quickly established himself in the first team at Kenilworth Road over a three year stint which saw him help the club win promotion from League One to the Championship.

A transfer to Sheffield Wednesday in January 2008 was followed by a swift exit six months later as he joined Leeds in the summer, but stayed with the Elland Road side for just 18-months as he scored only three goals for the club, one of which was against Tranmere.

He was signed by Bristol City in 2006 on a free transfer and stayed with the club for two-year, scoring 18 goals in 61 appearances and helping the club win promotion to the Championship.

A transfer to Sheffield Wednesday in January 2008 was followed by a swift exit six months later as he joined Leeds in the summer, but stayed with the Elland Road side for just 18-months as he scored only three goals for the club, one of which was against Tranmere.

The striker joined Falkirk in January 2010 but netted just once in 21 games for the Scottish Premier League side before being released.

After signing for the club today, Showunmi goes straight into the Tranmere side that travels to Chester for a pre-season friendly tonight.

Showunmi is Tranmere's third permanent summer signing, following the arrivals of Joss Labadie and Timothy Cathalina.
