Zoumana Bakayogo became a popular member of the Tranmere Rovers first team last season after joining on a free-transfer following his release from Millwall.

The Frenchman, who started his career with French giants Paris Saint-Germain, joined the club in September, whilst John Barnes was still manager of the club, but didn’t make his debut until October against Stockport County, when the former England international had been replaced in the Rovers hot seat by Les Parry.

The left-back had an immediate impact on the Tranmere first team, as he raced up and down the left-wing and was a regular in the Rovers side for the remainder of the season, missing only a handful of games due to suspension.

In January 2010, Bakayogo extended his contract at Prenton Park by a further six months, before signing a one-year deal in July 2010.
