Matthew Jones takes a looks back on what was a disappointing week for Tranmere Rovers
Last week wasn't the best week for Tranmere manager Les Parry and his team, as Rovers extended their run to three matches without a win, and nearly slipped back into the relegation zone on Saturday afternoon.
It was a slow news week for the Prenton Park club, with as yet no incoming loan signings brought in thanks to the Les Aid money. The Loan window though does close this Thursday, so if and when Tranmere make a loan signing, we here at Total Tranmere will bring you the news as soon as it happens.
Boss Les Parry has admitted this week that he is looking to bring in a new striker to help Tranmere score more goals this week as their new loan signing. He told the club's official website that he has a list of "30 to 40 strikers" and he now just has find out who is avaliable.
On Tuesday, it was announced that the Football League will have a new sponsor next season, with Coca-Cola set to be replaced by Gas and Electric company npower for the next three seasons.
As part of the multi-million pound deal, every club in the Football League will get a small cash payment, something that will of course be welcomed by the Rovers backroom staff and board room.
The divisions next season will be named the npower Championship, npower League One and npower League Two.
On Wednesday, a very young Tranmere reserve side lost 1-0 to Carlisle United at Cammel Laird, with the side featuring Platt, who is on trial from Chester City.
More bad news to come out of the game was an injury to 'keeper Joe Collister, who came off after just seventeen minutes with a tight hamstring.
This news was made worse on Thursday for Tranmere fans, when manager Les Parry revealed that not only was Collister, Rovers' second choice 'keeper, injured, but first choice shot stopper Luke Daniels was too.
The on-loan West Brom man had gone over on his ankle in training on Wednesday and was very doubtful for Rovers' League One clash with Hartlepool United on Friday.
Come Friday though, Daniels thankfully made the game, and managed to keep a clean sheet, as Tranmere picked up what many classed as a disappointing point thanks to a 0-0 draw with the Monkey Hangers.
In what was a drab and often chanceless game, Rovers, playing their first Friday night match at Prenton Park of the season, were unable to break down the Hartlepool defence, despite the visitors having lost nine in a row on the road before the match.
A point in this match though did mean Rovers remained outside the relegation zone following Saturday's results, with Exeter's draw at Wycombe putting them just one point behind Tranmere.
Results elsewhere mainly went Rovers' way though, as Yeovil, Southend, Stockport, Gillingham and Oldham all failed to win.
