Weather Report

The best weather of 2010 and arguably of the 2009/10 season so far with bright sunshine which meant that I watched the game in Sunglasses and without a coat on.  Never a better day to be out on Bristol's open terrace.

Crowd

6,477 fans were at the game with the away a decent number of Tranmere fans in attendance both in the now shortened seated area behind the goal and in the side terrace as well.

 Referee Watch

Graham Scott - A fairly uneventful game for the referee who's only real moment came with the 93rd minute sending off of Zoumana Bakayogo for a second yellow card - a decision which can't really be questioned.

Best Moment

In a fairly uneventful game, the best moment was probably the final whistle - not because the game was that bad but because it signalled another vital point for Rovers in their relegation battle.

Worst Moment

The sending off of 'Zoom' Bakayogo means that Rovers will be without a left-back for Friday night's crucial home game agaisnt Hartlepool United following Aaron Cresswell's red card in the Reserves against Liverpool in midweek.

Funniest Moment

The Bristol Rovers groundsman was smacked on the head with a ball before the game by a Tranmere player resulting in a confrontation shortly afterwards with Wayne Allison.

Tranmere Man of the Match

Luke Daniels - On a day when Rovers fought hard but had no really outstanding performers, Luke Daniels gets the award for his couple of saves which kept the home side out in either half.

 Connections

No direct connections as such in this game but Bas Savage was mercilessly abused by home fans for his Bristol City connections.

Tranmere Fans

The Tranmere fans really tried their best to make themselves heard but in an open terrace it very rarely has any affect on the pitch because the sound doesn't carry.

Tranmere fans do need to work on (or change) some of their songs though as "He's Big, He's Hard, He'll break your ****ing jaw" clearly doesn't rhyme.

Bristol Rovers Fans

Made themselves heard at times but not the best home atmosphere heard at an away ground this season.

Summary

A very crucial point at a ground where we usually get nothing and although the game was poor on the whole, the result more than made up for it.

Entertainment Value

As mentioned above the game itself was poor and there were few clear-cut chances aside from Ian Thomas-Moore's first half miss and a clearance of Tranmere's line in the second half.
