Following this afternoon's 1-0 away defeat at Hartlepool United in Coca-Cola League One, Deadly Submarine takes a quick look at the highs and lows of the game and the day in general as his fifth visit in a row to Victoria Park again saw Rovers fail to win in any of his visits there in recent years............

Weather Report
As well Tranmere ALWAYS failing to win there, a trip to Hartlepool is always wet, cold and windy so would today's game be any different this time around?..........NO!!
We saw the sun at half-time and a brief period of warmth but that was about as good as it got.
Crowd
3,428 fans were at the game although the Stadium did look reasonably full apart from the fairly sparse away end where the Rovers fans sat.Referee Watch
Mr Sutton - Apart from two second half bookings (one for either side), Mr Sutton had very little else to do until the 89th minute when he sent off Rovers substitute Charlie Barnett.
Whether the red card was for his lunge or for backchatting the referee after it (or both) is unclear but the referee had a decent enough game.
Best Moment
Hard to choose a best moment as Rovers obviously didn't score so I guess seeing Manager/Physio/General Dogsbody Les Parry running on to treat Rovers players twice in the space of a few minutes was a good one - as well as the foot-long hot-dogs on sale at £3.00 a go! Bargain!
Worst Moment
The goal that cost us at least a point in this game was sloppy and with better defending preventable so that has to be the worst moment of the game by some considerable distance.
Funniest Moment
In the build up to the start of the second half (and throughout the second 45 minutes), Pools goalkeeper Scott Flinders had to put up with the Rovers Fans behind his goal shouting "Fliinnndders" all the time and generally trying to put him off!
Tranmere Man of the Match
Ian Goodison - On a day when most individual performances in the Rovers side were poor, Ian Goodison had a long overdue decent game at the back and even turned creator towards the end out wide as Rovers looked for the equaliser.
Connections
Rovers Captain Ian Thomas-Moore is a former Hartlepool player and indeed he left the North East Club to move to Prenton Park and link up with dad Ronnie two years ago.
Rovers Fans
The Rovers fans really tried their best to make themselves heard with one chant of "Les Parry's Barmy Army" going on for at least five minutes if not longer. Sadly the team gave the fans little to shout about in the end.
Hartlepool Fans
As usual at Victoria Park there was little noise from the home fans aside from the goal just before half-time.
Summary
A game in which Rovers created chances in and around the penalty area but either lacked the final ball or wasted the chances that came. Most fans would have taken a draw from this game beforehand and by the end a defeat did seem harsh in the scheme of things.
Entertainment Value
There were chances at both ends and the game had its talking points so all in all it was a decent enough spectacle despite Rovers not getting the desired result.

We need a man of iron as manager . I will be interested to see what Barnes successor achieves, if anything can be achieved with this lot.
