Initially just for the winter months, we at Total Tranmere recently decided to launch a new, just for fun game called Football Pontoon. The aim of the game is for your randomly chosen team to be the first to score exactly 11 goals from the start date of the game.

The Football Pontoon game is not a new concept and has been around for a number of years, particularly in national Newspapers and such like but we felt it was time that the readers of Total Tranmere had a go for a bit of fun competition amongst users.
How Does It Work?
Anyone who enters the game will choose a number between 1 and 92 and depending on the random numbering system, that person will then be given a certain Football League Team.
For each weekend round of matches (Friday to Monday), each team will get the same amount of points as the goals they score that weekend so if for example if Tranmere win 3-1 against Brighton, Tranmere would get three points and Brighton would get one.
The object of the game is to be the first person whose team gets to 11 goals. Once this happens, a winner will be declared and a fresh round can then begin.
If however, your team goes bust (for example your team has 9 goals but then scores 3 in the next game meaning they reach 12 goals) then you return back to the score the team had before that week (in this case 9) and wait until they reach exactly 11 goals.
If for some reason your team fails to play over a weekend, you will automatically get two goals added to your total.
If two teams reach 11 in the same week, a draw will be declared before the teams are re-drawn for the next game.
How To Enter?
If you or any mates are interested in having a bit of fun with this game simply do one of the following......
If the random number you choose has already been picked by someone else, we will hand you the next available team down on the list.
Once a team has reached 11 goals and a winner has been declared, everyone who has entered in the previous round will use the same number again and be handed another team at random for the next game using a new random team order.
If you wish to opt out after one round please inform us by e-mail and if you wish to join after one round the same applies.
If you have non-Tranmere Fan friends who have internet access then why not spread the word about this game?
There are 92 places available and the more people that enter the game, the more hits and views Total Tranmere will get as the weeks go on.
Unlike our Fantasy Premier League and Fantasy League One competitions, this game doesn't require any real football knowledge and no real effort is needed on a weekly basis by those taking part.
We have currently had two rounds of the game and we are looking for new entrants for our latest game which starts with Sunday's round of fixtures including Rovers' home game against Walsall.
If the game is a success we may be able to get prizes for the future.
