Deadly Submarine once again gives us his views of the latest Rovers match as Ronnie Moore's men fought out a 0-0 draw away at Stockport County on Tuesday night. For four intrepid Total Tranmere members though that wasn't the whole story of the evening............

Stockport C 0 - 0  Tranmere

Weather Report

Before and during the match it was cold but thankfully (due to having no roof on the Away End), it was dry.

After the match it did get a bit cold in Stockport around 1.00am.

Crowd

6,121 were inside the Edgeley Park of which between 800-900 were Rovers fans.  The home fans were extremely quiet throughout the game on the whole although to be fair to them there wasn't much to shout about.

It would be fair to add that 6,117 of the supporters at the game were back home (and most of them in bed probably) before four members of Total Tranmere had even left Stockport to head for home.

Referee Watch

Nigel Miller (County Durham) - A bit of a fussy game from the referee who wasn't one to let the game flow.  However, although a lot of Rovers fans will disagree, I didn't think he had a terrible game although the first of Andy Taylor's yellow cards did seem harsh   - 7/10

Best Moment

Hard to pick a moment from the game really so I will go for four of us drinking a mug of Coffee and eating Penguin biscuits at 12.30am at the side of Edgeley Road in Stockport after a vehicle mishap - Thanks to the couple who owned the house by where we were parked by the way - you're top people!!

Funniest Moment

In the game itself, the referee and linesman both pointing in different directions for a throw-in just before half-time was quite funny.

After the game, the drinking of coffee at 12.30am (see above) was pretty hilarious.

Tranmere Man of the Match

Ben Chorley - Although Stockport didn't create too many goal scoring chances, the fact remains that without the services of Ben Chorley at the back, the game could have been over very quickly for Rovers as Chorley got his head on everything Stockport threw at them.

Connections

Rovers boasted former Stockport striker Ian Moore in their starting eleven but Stockport didn't field any ex-Rovers.

Rovers Fans

It's always hard to get an atmosphere going in an open end, especially when it's seated rather than standing.  That said though, the Rovers faithful tried their hardest to make themselves heard on a cold night of disappointing entertainment.

Stockport Fans

As mentioned above, the home support was fairly quiet throughout bar the odd bout of singing when something looked like going their way.

Summary

Many Rovers fans would have taken a point from this game before hand and given the lack of real chances for both sides it was a fair result in the end and a decent point for Rovers making it five games unbeaten in the League and five unbeaten away from home.

Entertainment Value

When it's a night as cold as last night was, you hope for an entertaining game but it didn't happen.  Few chances for either side and a goalless scoreline.  On the plus side, the fact that the game was only an hour or so from home means even the Rovers Fans were tucked up in bed by midnight....well most of them anyway!!
