Ronnie Moore was pleased with his side's deserved win over Crewe on Friday night and stressed that the three points were what his mostly dominant side deserved despite a fairly poor first half of football which ended goalless much like the recent meeting in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Ronnie Moore praised his side after their deserved win over Crewe on Friday evening at Prenton Park.

Moore told Tranmere World....................

"We thoroughly deserved it.  It was close in the first half with both sides playing the same system.  We said we could up the tempo in the second half and put a bit more pressure on their back four."

"We passed it really well. We didn't give it away, didn't panic and didn't go for too many long balls.  It's difficult when they're throwing seven and eight men behind the ball and asking us to play in front of them. It was a matter of moving the ball quicker and getting the ball in the right areas which we did."

Ronnie Moore

"We had plenty of chances.  On another day Ian [Moore] could have had three, Bas had the best chance of the game when he just needed to roll it in the net."

"Three weeks ago Shukes wouldn't have scored, the lad would have caught him but it shows he's coming on."

"You see when (Charlie Barnett) comes on, he's full of class the way he strokes the ball around.  He's not far away from getting in the team.  We've been patient with him, he's been patient with us and he's not a million miles away from playing in the side."
