The Cammell Lairds friendly, which was scheduled to be on 12th July, has now been moved to August the 4th so Rovers are free to play Liverpool on the 12th. The friendly will be played just 5 days before the new season and only 2 days after the home friendly against Blackpool.

Lairds Friendly Moved to August Date

Following Friday's news www.total-tranmere.co.uk can confirm that the  pre-season friendly with Cammell Lairds has been re-arranged due to Tranmere arranging a friendly with Merseyside rivals Liverpool.

The original friendly between Cammell Lairds and Tranmere was set to be played on the 12th July 2008, but has now been re-arranged due to the outcome of Liverpool coming to Prenton Park.

The game between Cammel Lairds and Tranmere Rovers will now be played on the 4th August 2008 just two days after the home friendly with Championship outfit Blackpool and 5 days before the start of the new season, so it is unknown whether Rovers' will field there strongest 11. Last time Tranmerec omfortably beat Lairds 6-0.

Any more news will be covered by www.total-tranmere.co.uk.

I think Lairds will understand to be fair.

If for example they had a late offer from Tranmere to arrange a friendly on a day when they already had one arranged, Lairds would surely look to move the less well known opponent to another time in order to accomodate Tranmere.

It's not like we have pulled out completely although on 4th August I can see it being much more of a youth side than it otherwise would have been because of the new season being only five days afterwards.
