End in Sight for Injured Winger!

Tranmere winger Steve Davies could be set to return to the first team fold soon and is expected to play in the home reserve match at Prenton Park next Wednesday night. Davies has been out with a knee ligament injury since late September when he was stretchered off.

End in Sight for Davies!

After six months on the sidelines it would appear the end is in sight for Rovers winger Steve Davies who has most Rovers fans will know, has missed the majority of the season through injury.

The 20 year-old was stretchered off early in the game during Tranmere's 2-2 home draw with Northampton on September 29th with what was soon confirmed as knee ligament damage that would keep him out for the remainder of the season, or so we all thought at the time.

In an interview on Monday, Ronnie Moore's assistant Manager Peter Shirtliff confirmed that Davies was likely to feature in the home Reserve game at Prenton Park next Wednesday night which is a sure sign that all being well, the youngster will make a return to first team action at some point before the end of the season.

Davies, Steve

Davies is Due to Return!

Physio Les Parry and the rest of the coaching staff will be aware of the dangers of bringing players back too early of course as the recent return of Chris Shuker to first team action has proved.

Shuker picked up what was initially thought to be the same injury as Davies on Boxing Day but when it was discovered his injury was not as bad as first thought, he was soon back in action in the home games against Hartlepool and Port Vale but was clearly lacking match fitness and has not featured in the two matches since Port Vale.

As a result it seems unlikely that Davies will be rushed back but fans will just be glad to see him on the road to recovery after what must surely have been a hard six months of watching Rovers rather than playing for them.

Apart from the unlucky opening day defeat to Leeds United, Tranmere enjoyed an unbeaten start to the season whilst Davies was in the side but soon after his loss, the results started to dip so to have him back will be a boost.  If he signs a new contract with the Club when his current deal expires in the Summer though, there will be even more reason to celebrate.

We would like to wish Steve Davies all the best on this final step to recovery from what was a horrible injury for the lad!

Great to see him so close to a first team return but I hope we don't rush him back too soon either.

I hope the Reserve Game goes OK next Wednesday for him.

Fingers Crossed!

If he plays against Forest it would be absolutely great for the club!
