Ten-Man Tranmere Earn Point at Bristol

Tranmere had to play over half of the game at the Memorial Stadium with ten men. Steve Jennings saw red for "serious foul play". However Antony Kay headed the visitors in front with fifteen minutes left only for Craig Disley to equalise six minutes later. It was a good point for Tranmere on our first ever visit to the Memorial Stadium.

Ronnie Moore decided to go with an unchanged side to the team that beat Millwall 2-0 last week, meaning Chris Greenacre kept the fit again Calvin Zola out of the team.
Bristol started the better and had two decent opportunities to show for it, but Andy Williams wasted Bristol's good play.
Tranmere started to create chances with Ian Moore testing Steve Phillips, Shane Sherriff heading wide and Chris Greenacre having a shot turned behind.
Just before half-time the Rovers of the Tranmere kind were reduced to ten men when Steve Jennings dived into a tackle and saw red. The tackle was dubbed as "Serious Foul Play" but fans and Manager Ronnie Moore alike were left feeling slightly hard done by as the visitors saw out the first half with no further damage inflicted.

At the start of the second half Myrie-Williams was replaced by John Mullin with Chris Greenacre moving to right midfield to try and tighten up the midfield in the absence of Jennings.
Tranmere actually started the second half the brightest as Sherriff and Greenacre both had efforts on goal whilst Danny Coyne then saved from Disley.
Calvin Zola became the lone striker when he replaced Ian Moore and moments later Shane Sherriff the missed a good chance with a header.
With fifteen minutes left Tranmere took the lead. Just like at Millwall Paul McLaren whipped in a free kick for Antony Kay to head in. The players celebrated with a traditional pile on infront of the travelling fans and it looked as if Rovers may steal a surprise three points with ten men.

However it wasn't to be as Bristol equalised just six minutes later when Craig Disley headed in a Campbell cross and that was that.
Despite taking the lead near the end, the result will be seen by most as a good one for Tranmere as they remain in the play-off places for the time being.

Antony Kay
Even before his goal, Kay was easily the best Tranmere Player on the day as part of a solid defensive unit that was unfortunate in the end not to keep a clean sheet.
